While I agree that AI is an easy tool and won’t be stopped, I also think it’s quite disappointing that Ren uses it in such a manner while also talking of how fucked up consumerism is.

Pretty sure this isn't the first time, there might be other examples as well, but the entire music video for su!clde was at least and heavily assisted and modified with AI. I get that the end result does a decent job of creating the surreal, dystopian and uncomfortable visuals he was probably going for, I just wish it was done so differently. His blatant use of AI is a little concerning, just feels like it goes against his usual moral/ethical standpoint on things due to the known environmental impact AI data centres are having, and how generative images affect artists at large. Im not against AI as a whole, i think it has the capacity to do a lot of good for the world when utilised properly, overtaking the creative process with generative images isnt such a case though. I'd love if he could make a statement about his approach and why he's choosing to use AI for certain things - actually im pretty sure he did something like that before he wiped his twitter but I cant remember exactly what was said.
