While the entire country was preoccupied with news of the Senate incident last Thursday, the Chinese Communist Party continues to swarm various maritime features in the West Philippine Sea. During the routine Maritime Domain Awareness flight conducted by the Philippine Coast Guard last Thursday—with Sen. Kiko Pangilinan onboard—the PCG documented the presence of nearly 30 Chinese Maritime Militia (CMM) vessels surrounding Pagasa Island, along with more than 20 additional CMM vessels at Escoda Shoal. It is worth noting that the CMM presence around Pagasa Island violates our territorial sea, while their presence at Escoda Shoal infringes on our sovereign rights. It is also worth mentioning that, on our return flight to Manila, the CCP’s illegally reclaimed military base at Ayungin Shoal fired flares at our plane as it passed through Panganiban Reef.

China says Philippines “disturbed” a Chinese marine research operation at Rozul Reef in South China Sea. Rozul Reef lies inside the Philippine EEZ. If a Philippine research vessel entered China’s EEZ, does anyone seriously think Beijing would calmly tolerate it?

Is Tomorrow the D-Day??? Will there be a Senate Impeachment Trial - “bloodbath”???? The House of Representatives is expected to vote on whether Vice President Sara Duterte will be impeached, and or whether this whole political theatrics and impeachment drama against Sara Duterte will move to its next, louder, bloodier, and more expensive episode: the Senate trial, the “Bloodbath.” Constitutionally, it only takes one-third (106 of 318 members) of the House to impeach. Politically, however, the bigger question is not merely whether the numbers are there, but who is really winning from this grand production in the Philippines' domestic politics? Is it accountability??? Is it transparency?? Is it justice??? Is it democracy?? Or is it just another elite power struggle dressed up in legal language, complete with press releases, dramatic hearings, carefully timed sound bites, and enough political choreography to qualify as a national performance art? Sara Duterte may lose political momentum in the run-up to the 2028 presidential elections, depending on what happens tomorrow and in the coming days. The Marcos camp may think it gains leverage. The Senate and the senators may soon enjoy their moment under the spotlight. The 2028 presidential race may be reshaped before the campaign even begins. But the Filipino people? They remain the politically victimized audience once again, paying for the tickets, suffering the consequences, and watching politicians fight for power while inflation, poverty, massive corruption, unemployment, ballooning debt, a struggling economy, dismal state of peace and order, US alliance-aligned foreign policy, and public frustration sit quietly in the corner, un-impeached and untouched. So tomorrow, yes, history may be made. But whether it is history in the service of justice, in the service of the Filipino people, or just another chapter in the Philippines’ never-ending political circus and power struggles among politicians remains the real question. In anticipation of tomorrow’s main political theater play… Popcorn, anyone? 🍿

As a sovereign nation, the Philippines has the inherent right to conduct military exercises with any country, including the United States and Japan. We possess the strategic autonomy to decide which security partnerships to strengthen and which alliances to build in pursuit of our national interest. I fully agree with @dndphl Secretary Gilbert Teodoro. China has no business interfering in or concerning itself with our sovereign decisions. As he rightly stated, we alone determine our defense and security policies based on what best serves our national interests.

Three Chinese nationals were arrested in Tawi-Tawi amid allegations of illegal information-gathering activities linked to counterfeit electronic devices and undocumented operations in a strategic border province. This is exactly why Filipinos must remain vigilant against foreign influence operations and covert activities disguised as “business,” “trade,” or informal networks. Security experts worldwide have long warned that United Front-style influence tactics often operate quietly — building access, gathering information, creating local connections, and exploiting weak enforcement environments before larger influence operations emerge. Counterfeit gadgets are not just fake products. They can become tools for surveillance, data collection, smuggling networks, and covert access to sensitive communities. The Philippines must never normalize illegal foreign activities on its own soil. Our borders are not open playgrounds for covert operations. Our communities are not targets for foreign manipulation. And our sovereignty is not for sale. National security begins with awareness, vigilance, and accountability. #NationalSecurity #TawiTawi #ProtectThePhilippines #counterespionage #BorderSecurity #Philippines #espionage

The Chinese Embassy in Manila has once again inadvertently admitted what we have long asserted: that China is conducting illegal Marine Scientific Research (MSR) inside the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone. In their statement, they confirm that their research vessel Xiangyanghong 33 was operating in the waters near “China’s Houteng Jiao” — their name for Iroquois Reef, the southernmost part of Recto Bank (Reed Bank). This area lies well within the Philippines’ 200-nautical-mile EEZ and continental shelf. It does not belong to China. Under UNCLOS Article 246, marine scientific research in the EEZ of a coastal state shall be conducted only with the consent of that coastal state. China has no such consent from the Philippines. Their unilateral “legitimate marine ecological survey” is therefore a clear and deliberate violation of Philippine sovereign rights and international law. The presence of China Coast Guard vessels and their so-called “professional and standardized maneuvers” in these waters is equally unlawful. The China Coast Guard has no jurisdiction, no law enforcement authority, and no sovereign rights in Philippine waters. Their actions constitute an illegal assertion of jurisdiction in an area where they have none. The 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award was crystal clear: China’s nine-dash line has no legal basis, Recto Bank/Reed Bank falls squarely within the Philippines’ EEZ, and Chinese claims to “historic rights” or jurisdiction over these waters are invalid. Our PCG Islander aircraft was simply doing routine MDA flight — monitoring unauthorized foreign activity inside our own EEZ. That is not “harassment.” It is the responsible exercise of our sovereign rights under international law. The real distortion of facts comes from Beijing’s repeated attempts to rewrite geography and law to suit its expansionist agenda.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS | CHINA ROCKET DEBRIS ALERT NEAR PHILIPPINE WATERS The Philippine Coast Guard has issued a warning to all vessels and fishermen after China announced another rocket launch scheduled for May 11, 2026, from the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan. According to navigational warnings, debris from the LONG MARCH 7A rocket may fall near critical maritime areas close to Bajo de Masinloc, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan — placing civilian vessels, fishermen, and regional sea lanes at potential risk. This raises serious concerns once again about the dangerous pattern of activities affecting the West Philippine Sea and nearby international waters. No responsible nation should normalize actions that endanger lives, threaten maritime safety, and place coastal communities at risk. Filipino fishermen, commercial vessels, and neighboring countries deserve transparency, accountability, and respect for international safety standards. The world is watching. The West Philippine Sea is not a dumping ground for hazardous debris, and the safety of civilians at sea should never be treated as secondary. #WestPhilippineSea #MaritimeSafety #ProtectOurFishermen #InternationalLaw #Philippines #WPS

Footage from my interview with Xinhua News Agency last night, May 7, for their upcoming documentary on the South China Sea dispute. What was supposed to be a formal interview turned into an almost two-hour, mind-provoking, and genuinely engaging conversation—the kind that keeps the brain awake, the arguments sharp, and the coffee fully justified. I enjoyed it immensely. And yes, I suspect my blunt, straightforward personality fully emerged. Still diplomatic, I guess, but no sugarcoating, no walking on eggshells, just direct, no bullshits answers, straight to the point, and perhaps a little too much honesty for a quiet evening… oh well, what can we do… that’s pretty much me in a candid way… And I think I like myself that way hehehe…😎😅😎

‘TANIM BASURA’ LOOK: A Chinese state-owned media reported that five PH crew members “illegally set foot” at the sandbar and littered around the area. Hours after planting the Philippine flag at Sandy Cay by Akbayan Rep. Dadah Ismula on Sunday, Chinese Coast Guard personnel went to the sandbar to erect the Chinese flag and claimed to have discovered trash belonging to PH crew. Meanwhile, Ismula debunked the accusations of the Chinese media outlet, calling the report “fake news.” The legislator is set to release footage taken from their trip to Sandy Cay to prove that they did not leave trash in the area. | via @ronahamparo
