I'm also excited to announce that I'll be starting a new job as a staff writer at @Newsweek. I'll be in Vermont through the summer but plan on moving to NYC in the fall. Thanks to my editors, sources and readers in Vermont who have taught me so much over the years.

After more than three years at @vtdigger, my last day was earlier this month. I'm so grateful for my time at Digger, the opportunity to cover the Vermont Statehouse/ #vtpoli and to have worked for a news organization that is so important for the state.

Gov. Phil Scott just vetoed a bill that would have set up a rental registry, and a statewide system to enforce property safety standards. Scott says the solution to Vt's housing shortage "is not more regulation." #vtpoli

The Vermont House just overrode both of Scott's charter change vetoes. The bills would allow noncitizens in Montpelier and Winooski to vote in local elections. The Senate also needs to override if the bills are going to become law (it is expected to have the votes) #vtpoli

The VT House has now voted 103-47 to override @GovPhilScott's veto of H.227, a change to the Winooski charter. This too would allow noncitizens to vote in local elections — including school district questions. #vtpoli

Will Leahy run again in 2022? And if not, who is angling for a congressional run? @KitNorton and I talked to two dozen people including VT politicos, party operatives and others, to lay out what next year could look like. #vtpoli vtdigger.org/2021/05/27/as-…

More than a year ago, we unionized in hopes of creating positive and constructive change at VTDigger. But we’ve made little progress on the issues that matter. 1/ @vtdigger @newsguild

Ben Bergstein had a “monopoly” over performing arts spaces in #BTV. For at least a decade, he used his influence to sexually harass and grope people, according to 8 people — including 3 former employees — who spoke to @ktyschwnk. Outstanding reporting: vtdigger.org/2021/04/15/nor…

Scott voted "no" on Town Meeting Day on the issue of allowing retail marijuana in his town. Scott lives/votes in Berlin, I believe. Says he was on the "losing end" of that vote, but appreciated the opportunity for community members to have a say. vtdigger.org/2021/03/02/bur…

This evening, I'm tracking Vt. towns and cities votes on whether approve retail pot shops. So far, according to results, Montpelier, Middlebury, Winooski, and Danby are a yes. Lyndon is a no. #Vtpoli
