@nhl_review It's not intent to injure. That's not in the rulebook. It's an attempt to injure. Referees aren't mind readers, but they judge actions. Dubois slammed Thomas down in a manner which smashed his face into the ice. I have no issue with the Match penalty.

@penidsn27 @nhl_review Then he has to stop or try to. Slowing down isn't enough. The onus is on Lee to show that he's doing everything he can to avoid contact with the goalie. You don't often see a ruling that an attacking player was shoved into the goalie unless he was basically launched into the air.

@CBJ2410 @kelsey_surmacz4 The rule is rather clear, there's just a lot to it and it involves quite a bit of judgment. If we want to take away the amount of judgment, I can support that, but that also means essentially adopting the IIHF's crease rule.

@kelsey_surmacz4 I don't agree Olivier's contact is enough to say he was shoved into Greaves, but either way, Lee did not make a reasonable effort to avoid contact with Greaves, which is a requirement clearly spelled out in Rule 69.1.

Greaves doesn't get to that puck regardless of whether or not Lee is there. And Lee was shoved into Greaves by his own defender.

@penidsn27 @nhl_review They were both going for the loose puck that was not in the crease, but he did not push, shove or foul Lee into the goaltender. Even if you feel otherwise, Lee made no effort to avoid contact, which he must do in that situation.

@jimmathesonnhl Why is that suddenly a reason for not calling a penalty? Numbers driven into the boards. I have seen that 100x in a variety of games this year and always called. Danny Syvret seems to be our regular home ref and he is one of the worst referees in the league.

@JSchills4 @jimmathesonnhl This is the NHL rule for CFB. When a player turns, it's not a penalty under this rule. That said, they could have called Boarding, which I think would have been appropriate.

@bassetgreg @jabo_vancouver Not agreeing with that. He was driving the net and Hronek most definitely used his stick in a cross checking motion to drag him down by the pants. NHL officiating has 99 problems, but this penalty isn't one of them.
