X’s algorithm appears to have received a major upgrade on May 15. With the latest version released on GitHub, X’s recommendation system seems to be entering a new stage — one where it can understand post content much more deeply than before. Here are the key updates 👇 Stronger Grok-powered content understanding 🧠 X now appears to analyze posts in much greater detail, including spam detection, category classification, safety checks, and video audio recognition. This means low-quality posts, spam-like content, and AI-generated “slop” may be suppressed much earlier in the recommendation process. Enhanced Phoenix + Grok Transformer model ⚡ The core recommendation system has been further strengthened with Grok-based transformer models. It can now predict multiple types of engagement, such as likes, replies, reposts, and more, using AI. In other words, X is moving away from simple surface-level metrics and toward deeper judgment based on content quality, user context, and engagement patterns.
