my roommate at the time told me i should’ve sent the prof a picture of the burns. he probably would’ve responded in a similar way to op but at least then he probably would’ve believed me and given me that extension

i once asked my prof for an extension on a homework assignment bc i got second degree burns on my leg and he said no even tho i literally could not walk there is a reason students will give you too much information. it’s so you believe them when they ask for help
