@ARG_in_twitbird I haven’t made the background art yet, and a plain background felt a bit empty. So I put an Aseprite-like default background there for now😅 I actually kinda like the work-in-progress vibe.

As a solo developer, finding the right audio source is the hardest part when adding sounds. Plenty of jump sounds out there, but I couldn’t find one that felt Mario-like. So I tried making Mario’s jump sound myself. #gamedev #indiedev #pixelart #SuperMario

@jannone Yeah, it turns out they actually recorded a guitar slide. If I wanted to get closer, I could record a real guitar, or use more legato pitch bends and add some fret noise on top.

@yamae_dev Hey, I think I’m hearing the frets on the guitar slide for the original sound. So maybe bending is not quite enough, as it needs to be more staircased? Am I hearing things? 😅

@ConnorTheTwo I noticed that matching the characteristics of a sound can make almost anything sound similar. Thanks! I wasn’t totally sure, but I think I’ll keep using this sound.

@yamae_dev What's really interesting is that the software pitch-bending creates a vibe similar to the Super Mario World end screens! I feel like it fits the aesthetic of this project better than Mario Wonder's jump sound, honestly...!
