I am of Chinese descent and when I was growing up in Guatemala, a lot of the kids over there also made these types of gestures. I thought it was funny and laughed with them because it is the truth. The people doing this are just trying to have fun, it doesn't mean they are racist. People nowadays get offended really easy.

A Korean fan was filming herself at the World Cup when a group of Mexico supporters behind her started pulling their eyes into a slant and laughing at her. Social media tracked the main guy down. He's reportedly the president of Jalisco's college of surveyors….

The entire world needs to just fucking relax. Obviously, the grown man is an immature dickhead, but it's not a big deal. Losing his job over his action doesn't help anyone. Nor does it solve any social problem. Yet, the company he works for has the right to maintain standards for its employees, along with the services or products they represent. So it is justified for them to fire him. If anything, his boss should have encouraged him to make a public apology. I'm pretty sure his immaturity prompted him to make such a gesture because he thought it would be funny. Yes, there are all kinds of people in the world who, for whatever reason, lack the ability to make good judgments. And yes, everyone is entitled to dislike another culture or race for whatever personal reason one may or may not have. But berating someone by calling them 'racist' will not improve the quality of social harmony. It only promotes more divisiveness. The term is discustingly abused as a weapon to invade people's space... harvesting empathy, sympathy and undeserved privilage for those whose intentions are to manipulate.
