@1aurarose I’m not a huge soccer (sorry!) person but everything I learn about him seems like he’s just a genuinely good chill dude. Who happens to be built like a tank and one of the best players

@SpydiiYT @KyleStephen77 @paulhi55 @TheAthleticFC Look every team has their weaknesses and strengths. Portugal has three players who excel in tight spaces and playmaking. Yet this is how they play. Ronaldo as a target man works well when they actually push foward. But when every pass goes sideways there's nothing he can do.

@yanited223 @KyleStephen77 @paulhi55 @TheAthleticFC firstly ur cherry picking images i can show an image we're they progressed ball via central, doesnt always have to go central, u are right about Martinez, never blame Ronaldo soley for Portugals issues, but he part of the issues like i mentioned in the past

'I don’t know if people are surprised by Cristiano Ronaldo's struggle so far, but it is absolutely nothing new. 'Ronaldo made so little impact at Euro 2024 (no goals in five games) and even at the 2022 World Cup, where he scored one goal (a penalty against Ghana) in five appearances. 'The difference at the Euros was that he was at least getting chances. So far this afternoon he has barely had a sniff.' - @OliverKay Portugal vs DR Congo live blog: bit.ly/3Se3cfk

The slander Ronaldo has brought onto himself at 41 is his own doing. Refusing to retire at the 2022 WC just because Messi won it

@SpydiiYT @KyleStephen77 @paulhi55 @TheAthleticFC The midfield kept passing backwards the entire game so Congo just kept their positioning set and solid without ever having to step up and work. For a team with this midfield that is disgraceful. Martinez needs to be talked about not Ronaldo, especially at this volume...

@SpydiiYT @KyleStephen77 @paulhi55 @TheAthleticFC This is how it was the entire game. The only chances were created in the last 15 mins and they weren't of any quality to completely blame the striker. And I get that they want to drag the defenders out but if there's no pressure moving towards goal then why would the Congo move?

@siickem92 @ochocinco He's right nobodies in a position to advance the ball and when he has Bruno and co next to him why should he be one dropping back. Even if he drops back where can he play it. Terrible tactics

@ochocinco Nah Ocho u goofy for this one playing as number 9 he should be able to drop back and link up midfield to the wingers or full backs he can't do either. He's become a poacher in the box we all respect him but it's time it's been time

He had to track back out of position just to touch the ball because the supposedly best midfield in the tournament couldn’t create space or break down a defensively sound DR Congo squad, are you actually watching an analyzing the game or watching one player❔
Rax-22@Raxo_

@ochocinco Why not accept the truth, he is finished and Portugal works better without him. No one touched the ball less than him

@Real1_balogun I don't see how the striker gets the blame here. Amazing wingbacks and midfielders but the center is completely empty. If they really want to win they'll play though the center and have Nuno wide to stretch the defense. Bruno needs to put pressure and play up and aggressive

For Portugal to achieve their objectives, one of two things must happen. One, other players must be ready to play for Ronaldo, give it their all and very best while knowing he’s 41, not 31. His legs are gone. He’s not as sharp. I don’t think there’s any serious opposition they’ll face that’ll work too hard on cancelling Ronaldo out. Others have to step up. He’s had his day. Two, Ronaldo must be ready to be left out of the team without being salty about it. That could help lift the mood of the group. If he’s starting and isn’t trusted enough because he’s just physically declined, then it’s better he stays out of the team altogether and, come in as a sub. I’m not certain there’s still a team in the world that’ll see Ronaldo on the sidelines preparing to come on and won’t have something shift in their heads. He’s Ronaldo for a reason. One of the greatest footballers ever. The World Cup has shown how much things have closed up. We will see some wide scoring margins, still, but the gap between the good teams and others has shrunken.

@SpydiiYT @KyleStephen77 @paulhi55 @TheAthleticFC Can someone please tell me what they want Cristiano to do when this is their set up? His role today was to be a striker and that's exactly what he did. But the midfield? Those are the young hungry players u talk about and just look at the center...

It's the elephant in the room that everyone is afraid to talk about. You have that much technical quality in the middle and on the flanks, but the entire system is being compromised to accommodate one person. It’s a tactical paradox. Honestly, if he finally grows the backbone to bench him for the next game, the outrage will be worth it if it actually allows the rest of the team to function properly.
Nuel06@Nuel006

I feel really bad for Roberto Martínez. He has a world class midfield in Bruno Fernandes, Vitinha & Neves with arguably the best left back in the world, but he can’t fully execute his tactics because he has a 41yr old Cristiano Ronaldo in the team. I just hope there won’t be outrage if he decides to drop him for the next game.

@totalf0otball They need to play centrally. Concenciao helped because he actually forced the defense to step up and defend him which created space. I think Bruno should lead the midfield and mendes and cancelo should look to attack from wings to add width. Force the defense to actually defend

That put CR7 just in an island all game, all alone. The only times he got to the ball was when he dropped to get a touch of it. In all, Cristiano had 5 touches in 🇨🇩's box. 3 of them were those missed shots. Wissa also had 2 non-shot touches in 🇵🇹 box. Where's the supply? 🙃

If two images could explain 🇵🇹's performance today; I think it'd be these. In the first 45', the play was heavily concentrated on the left. Got a goal out of it even. But then it was just left-sided recycling & maybe switching to right to see what Bernardo / Cancelo could do..

@Wolfieee_7 @AJ121_football @R7notagain Vitinha and neves can sit behind Bruno a bit to cover when needed. But tactics today were ridiculous. They need to play centrally and force the other team to take the ball instead of passing around all game. Otherwise the opponents defense just stays set and solid all game

At some point Ronaldo had to come into the midfield, collect the ball and create some chances. The way the Portugal team gets overrated you would think they're in the level of 2010s Spain or Germany. We really need to calm down

@DonZcentral @drdamilare9 He had them set up like this the whole match it's really not a huge dilemma. Bruno up top behind Ronaldo and vitinha and Neves behind him would've been much better. Let Nuno and cancelo play as advanced wingbacks. Once he makes those adjustments then ppl can question Ronaldo

@drdamilare9 If Ronaldo was someone that needed to be involved in play as much as Messi maybe I’d understand but most of his game is waiting for crosses in the box. You have 9 other outfield players, surely a half decent coach can come up with something better

Portugal are just meady. Starting from Martinez. Got hyped because of their midfield three on paper + Nuno Mendes but everything else is either bang average or worse. Probably get bounced in the QF if they’re lucky and that’ll be that

@yanited223 @sammysmartwizch @Hiimdaisy3 @BronGotGame No we don’t want him to do that but it’s the exact reason why we shouldn’t place him in conversation he doesn’t belong when players like Messi drop in deep into the midfield to create chances, break lines, advance the attack into the final third and be an elite goalscorer.
