Milan Momcilovic withdrawal deadline watch. Malachi Moreno just made the decision easier. Long post.... don't read it and don't complain if you don't like detailed analysis..... Moreno announced tonight he is coming back. BBN I'm home. Job isn't finished. That is not just a frontcourt win. It changes how every player still in the process should be looking at this roster right now. Four days ago I laid out why Kentucky makes more sense for Momcilovic than St. John's. The system argument. The shot creation argument. The draft stock argument. All of it still stands. But tonight added a layer that I did not have when I wrote that. Think about what Moreno coming back actually does for Milan specifically. Every defense Kentucky sees next year has to account for a 7 footer shooting 58% from the field and blocking 1.5 shots a game as a freshman. Pope already said publicly he expects Moreno to be the best center in America next season. That is not a hot take. That is a real interior threat that collapses paint coverage and opens the floor in ways that directly benefit a player like Momcilovic. Now add the backcourt picture on top of that. Zoom Diallo averaged 15.7 points and 4.5 assists at Washington last season. He is a 6'4 combo guard who gets into the paint and creates for others. He is not a three point shooter with the ball in hand. That matters because when Diallo is attacking downhill defenses cannot sag off the perimeter to help. They have to respect him all the way to the rim. Alex Wilkins averaged 17.8 points and 4.7 assists at Furman. Elite ball handler. Elite creator. The concern people have raised about him playing the two instead of the one is actually what makes him interesting next to MM. Wilkins will spend time with the ball in his hands creating. When he is the initiator and Diallo is the driver those are two genuine threats that demand defensive attention before the ball even gets to the perimeter. And then look at who is filling out the other spots. Hawthorne is a 6'8 wing who Jack Givens has been raving about since he arrived.....he can shoot at a high level. Kam Williams. Justin McBride. Trent Noah. Jerone Morton. Mason Williams. Ousmane Ndaye Has a good shot and will improve his numbers with good shot selection. Every single wing on this roster can stretch the floor to some degree. Pope is not building a team with non shooters clogging the weak side. He is building a roster where every G/F on the floor is a credible shooting threat that a defense has to account for. That matters because of what it does to the zoom actions specifically. Pope's zoom offense runs two simultaneous actions on both sides of the floor at the same time. Strong side you have the primary ball screen action. Diallo or Wilkins coming off a Moreno ball screen forcing the defense to make a decision on the main action. Do you hedge to stop the drive. Do you go under and give up the pull up. Do you switch and put a guard on Moreno rolling to the rim. While that decision is happening on the strong side Milam is getting a free release on the weak side. Coming off a screen set by one of those G/Fs. Relocating into rhythm. Catching with his feet set and his shot ready before the defense even has time to rotate. It's even more difficult when Wilkins is on that side with him, which will likely be a majority of his playing time. Wilkins must always be accounted for. The defense cannot help on both sides simultaneously. That is the whole point of the offense. And here is the part that makes Moreno specifically so important to this. He is not a throwaway screener that defenses can ignore while they load up on the weak side shooter. He is a legitimate scoring threat rolling to the rim. If they hedge hard on the ball handler Moreno is catching in space for an easy finish. If they go under the screen they give up the drive. If they switch they have a guard on a 7 footer at the rim. Every single one of those decisions creates a better look for MM on the weak side. But now add a credible shooting G/F setting that weak side screen for MM. Hawthorne. Kam Williams. McBride. Noah. Ndiaye...... Does not matter which one. The defense cannot ignore that screener either. They cannot cheat off him to help on MM because he is a shooting threat himself. So now the weak side action has two legitimate threats running it simultaneously while three more threats are eating defensive attention on the strong side. That is five players on the floor that a defense has to genuinely account for on every single possession. There is no weak link to hide a helper behind. Now go back to the Iowa State tape. MM shot 48.7% from three this past season as basically a stationary spacer. Otzelberger's system had him standing in corners waiting for the ball to find him. He was a catch and stand shooter in a halfcourt offense that was never designed around his movement. That number is elite. And it came in a system that was actively underselling what he actually does at an elite level. He is not a corner shooter. He is an off ball relocator who was stuck in a corner. Pope's zoom offense is built on continuous movement. Layered screening. Actions that never stop. A player like MM never stops relocating and the offense is literally designed to find him in rhythm. That is a completely different universe than what he was playing in at Iowa State. 48.7% from three in a system that hid him. Imagine what that number looks like in the first offense he has ever played in that is actually designed for his skill set. With Moreno commanding the paint and threatening the roll. Diallo attacking. Wilkins creating. Shooting G/F on both sides of the floor that defenses cannot ignore. And MM coming off screens into rhythm catches on a weak side that has no defensive help available because every other player on the floor is a genuine threat. This is why I feel strongly that UK has the right role and the right style of play to help Milan show the NBA what they need to see.... a relocation shooter that can move defenses and has gravity. He needs that tape to have any hope of being a 1st round pick next year. I think UK gives him the best chance to put that skillset on tape.

They are currently 1st in a bunch of AL offensive categories, so they are getting plenty of offense. Ya BA mid pack but that is how they built the team. Starting rotation has been outstanding. I would expect them to add to the pen for sure by or at the deadline. Wells is a good catcher, brings a lot of value there. Jones is capable of claiming CF. He's upside is crazy. Like him a lot. Very talented and hard worker.

@Seth_3773 I would say assault charges are in order against the umpire. And it also looks like it happened at a little league or maybe high school game . Either one it’s insane !!!!

Breakdown, Telling the umpire he’s a f-ing B warrants an ejection, not a right cross. The coach definitely shouldn’t have said that, but honestly I feel the umpire mishandled all of this. What do you think?
