I built a tool that takes my blog, X, and WeChat newsletter from idea to published in 30 minutes instead of 4 hours. It's a 14-stage AI pipeline that handles topic research, writing, illustrations, and one-click publishing. Here's what I learned building it as a solo dev. 🧵

Built the entire MVP in ~2 weeks using Claude Code. The wildest part: Claude Code also fell into the WeChat "silent failure" trap when writing the publish logic. AI writing bugs that only AI tools would create. Poetry. But once you tell it, it never makes the same mistake twice

WeChat's API is where dreams go to die: - HTML rendering = IE6 level. ALL styles must be inline - Whitespace between tags creates ghost elements - requests.post(json=...) escapes Chinese → title length validation breaks - Failed uploads return 200 with no error.

Built a provider registry supporting 7 LLM providers—DeepSeek, Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, SiliconFlow, and NVIDIA. Why? Cost optimization. Use DeepSeek for outlines (cheap) and Claude for polishing (quality). Users pick per stage. Vercel AI SDK made this dead simple.

The core is a 14-stage state machine: monitoring → aggregation → trend analysis → topic eval → multi-outline → multi-draft → fact check → review → style → polish → cover → illustrations → publish → done 5 human checkpoints. Because AI assists, it doesn't replace.

So I did what any developer would do—automated everything. Started with Python scripts and Obsidian. Hacked together an X and WeChat API publisher in a weekend. Once I proved it worked, I rebuilt it as a real product: Next.js 15 + Prisma + Vercel AI SDK.

Running a tech newsletter in English/Chinese is brutal: - 1 hr scrolling HackerNews for topics - 2 hrs writing the draft - 45 min making cover art and diagrams - 15 min fighting WeChat's editor That's 4 hours per article. I was burning out.
