NEW: After a campaign to dishonestly portray him as calling for Iran to strike a U.S. base, Georgetown professor Jonathan A. C. Brown has been removed as chair of his department, is currently on leave, and is now under an internal university review. The update came during testimony today from interim president Robert M. Groves before a House of Representatives hearing on so-called “antisemitism” in higher education. Groves said the university contacted Brown within minutes of his tweet, which was later deleted. The tweet was widely misrepresented as advocating an Iranian attack on U.S. forces.
