Shortlisted! 🤩💪 My colleague jokes: "While the Russians were launching rockets at Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Ukrainians were busy crafting infographics. And, surprisingly, quite successfully" 😉 #IIBAwards

8⃣ This is what digital #occupation looks like in 2025. Not just censorship or media bans. But bots simulating public opinion, reshaping what feels “normal” in not-so-normal reality. 🧾 Full report: #case-study-high-impact-bot" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">atlanticcouncil.org/in-depth-resea… 🔍 Summary: openminds.ltd/reports/digita… #FIMI

7⃣ And it didn’t stop in the TOT. These same bots posted over 3 million comments across Ukrainian and Russian Telegram channels. But in channels tied to occupied areas, pro-Russian messaging was twice as prevalent—praising Russian governance, local reconstruction, and stability

1⃣ “Putin is a leader of the sort which there is no more on Earth. He brought peace. Life has become better.” This wasn’t a real person. It was one of thousands of Telegram comments from bots in occupied Ukrainian cities. 🧵 What we (@openmindsglobal and @DFRLab) uncovered ⬇️

This morning, the world woke up to one of the most sophisticated asymmetric operations in modern warfare. Not just in its engineering and complexity - but in its psychological architecture. Ukrainian forces launched drones from inside Russia… concealed under false-roofed wooden cabins transported on trucks. These vehicles lay in wait near strategic airbases for weeks. At the chosen moment, their roofs lifted remotely - and a swarm of FPV drones emerged like ghosts from inside the Russian heartland. The damage is staggering: an estimated $2 billion worth of Russian strategic aviation assets. But this wasn’t just a military strike. It was a masterclass in strategic influence. Here’s why this operation matters so profoundly: 1. It fractured the myth of strategic invulnerability. Russia’s long-range bombers are more than weapons/ They’re icons of state power, strategic legacy, and nuclear deterrence. To show that even these symbols can be reached by homegrown Ukrainian FPVs is to crack the Kremlin’s psychological shield. 2. It inverted the power dynamic. This wasn’t just penetration - it was domesticated disruption. Ukrainian drones were effectively nesting in Russia, lying in wait. To security elites, that signals a horrifying new phase: the battlefield is not “over there.” It’s inside the wire. It could be anywhere. 3. It introduced temporal dread. The long planning horizon—18 months—suggests dozens more such traps could be lying dormant. That seeds a different kind of panic: the kind that’s not about what just happened, but what hasn’t happened yet. 4. It destabilises internal trust. How many people along the supply chain saw those trucks and didn’t question them? How many local officials signed off without knowing?

In 2021, Putin declared that “Russia does everything for migrants to feel comfortable.” By 2025, Moscow has introduced a controlled people register to fast-track deportations, banned migrant children from schools unless they speak Russian, and fueled a nationwide hysteria.

Satellite images analyzed by @textyorgua_eng show North Korea's economy surge in 2022-2024 Coinciding with Pyongyang’s support of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, night time illumination of North Korea, associated with economic growth, has increased (1st photo, blue color). Growth is especially visible near military nodes. At the same time, Ukraine's economy has taken a blow (red color shows drop in illumination). euromaidanpress.com/2024/10/23/sat…

Russians continue to rely on intensifying terror of the civilian population by increasing attacks, and air raids. While in Kyiv region in 2023 an average time of air alerts is 9 hours per week, this year the weekly alert time increased to 15 hours. texty.org.ua/articles/11358…

@tvonlinz Boundaries sound optimistic :) Btw, this author has a YouTube channel labeled 'Modified or synthetic content,' and far fewer viewers believe the story. So, the first boundary should be strict platform policies and effective moderation to clearly identify AI's impact.

Deepfake technology is evolving rapidly, but so are the risks of misinformation. TEXTY analyzed 10,000+ comments on humorous (!) TikTok deepfakes featuring fake politicians in front-line scenarios. Shockingly, 20% of commenters believed the videos were real. 1/4

Some even pointed out the wrong color of tape or overly neat manicures, but failed to notice the primitive deepfake mask. The fact-checking community can take some pride, but this highlights the challenge we face. 3/4
