Year 1 had a wonderful day making the smoothies they had designed in their DT lessons. They used their skills of cutting and juicing and then evaluated their recipes. What a great way to spend a hot Friday afternoon! @kapowprimary @FossdeneSchool

When we weren't cutting or juicing, we practiced our new cutting skills using playdough, holding with a fork and slicing with the knife. @kapowprimary @FossdeneSchool

For Healthy Schools Week, Year 1 enjoyed taking part in a fitness circuit. We learnt that exercise is an important part of keeping healthy @FossdeneSchool

Year 1 enjoyed learning about how to keep themselves safe by following Pantosaurus' #TalkPANTS rules by @NSPCC We know that pants are private and we all have the right to privacy. @FossdeneSchool Now we can't get the song out of our heads!

Year 1 braved the heat this morning and had a wonderful time at Sports Day. They were wonderful team players and there was a lovely atmosphere of support for each other. What a wonderful team we are in Year 1! @FossdeneSchool

Year 1 had a great time learning how to identify fruit by looking for seeds in D&T this week. Did you know that aubergines, cucumbers and avocado are actually fruits? We were surprised too! @kapowprimary @FossdeneSchool

In our @JigsawEduGroup lesson, we learnt how we can appreciate people who are special to us. We spoke about friends, family and classmates. We each had a heart to decorate with a mystery name and then we revealed them at the end. It was lovely! @FossdeneSchool

We had a great time on Wednesday doing our brain dance and getting our 'wiggles' out before starting our maths lesson. It was great fun! @FossdeneSchool

Our @WhiteRoseEd Science lessons have involved us learning about evergreen and deciduous trees. We looked at some examples of leaves and then decided which type of tree they belonged to. Next week we hope to walk to the local park to spot them on the trees! @FossdeneSchool

In our @WhiteRoseEd maths lessons this week, Year 1 have been sharing equally and then applying that to working out fractions of amounts. We love our maths lessons! @FossdeneSchool

In our @JigsawEduGroup lessons this week, we learnt about different types of greetings that use physical contact. We talked about how greetings may differ depending on how well you know the person and how we can speak up if we are uncomfortable. @FossdeneSchool

Our sunflowers are growing! We will be tracking them every 2 weeks in our Science lessons and measuring how much their stems have grown. @FossdeneSchool
