Morinville RCMP have charged a 34-year-old man in Edmonton, Jaswindra Nath, with multiple offences including sexual interference and child luring following an investigation into alleged incidents involving a 15-year-old in Morinville. Police say the complaint came in November and alleges the offences occurred between Sept. 1 and Nov. 14. Investigators say the accused used Snapchat to contact and “lure” the victim, arranged meetings, and transported them from school to his apartment on several occasions. RCMP say Nath is also charged with arranging a sexual offence with a child and obtaining sexual services from a person under 18. He has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday. Investigators say there may be additional victims and note he used the Snapchat handles “yegnut” and “yegnutn” and the name “Jash.”

Edmonton police are warning the public that Ryan White, 44, a convicted violent sexual offender, is being released and will live in Edmonton. Police say they have reasonable grounds to believe he poses a risk of reoffending while in the community. White’s past offences involved physical and sexual violence against adult women, particularly vulnerable women, as well as assaults on a toddler and an older woman.
