Every DP on the planet is going to want more time to make their shot. The list of working DPs who retain ownership of what their shot looks like (on a big network show) once it’s sent to post could fit on my palm. Take it up with the studios and producers. Crew does their best.

Since I just got home from Panavision and saw this I’m gonna hop on my soapbox. It’s a combination of many things. Lenses have gotten faster (lower t-stop values, shallower depth of field), lighting is diversified through Tungsten, HMI, and LEDs (high to low light outputs) (pt1)

I would actually love to hear a cinematographer explain why so many movies look like this now? It’s not just marvel, even comedies that are shot on location constantly have this out of focus background that makes everyone look like they’re standing in front of a green screen
