I really don’t know how to simplify it further so please try searching on your own too if you still don’t fully understand. Websites/apps use your PUBLIC IP ADDRESS as an identifier, so for the rest of this tweet, all mentions of IP will refer to the PUBLIC IP ADDRESS. Simply put, your IP is your connection/identifier on the internet. How are IP addresses assigned? • Once you connect to wifi or mobile data, you get an IP address. • Devices connected to the same wifi usually share the same public IP address. • Mobile data is a separate connection, so it has a different IP address from your wifi. • If you are connected to a hotspot, you usually have the same IP as the mobile data you are connected to. • Restarting your router or reconnecting your mobile data may give you a fresh IP address. Why are we discussing this? • Because Ticketmaster has strict regulations regarding fraudulent accounts. • They can detect IP addresses being used excessively and may flag accounts under that IP as suspicious or fraudulent users.
