Published my first book chapter in Japanese. 帝国のまなざし：満洲映画における旅の視点と場所作り .

Compared to the substantial historical investigations in the same book, my examination of Manchuria's portrayal through films is rather a light touch. Nevertheless, I hope it can still offer a unique perspective on East Asian modern wartime culture.

China historians: some hopeful news. I was able to visit the new First Historical Archive today. It’s true that you need a Chinese phone number to make an appointment online, but the new facility is wonderful.

just realised... interestingly the hotel opposite the 'traditional' painting&calligraphy stationary shops got a European-ish porch in contrast... though all the ground facades were the add-on decors to those Khrushchyovka residential blocks...

In Shenyang’s old town, some alleys serve their particular functions. In this ‘Chinese painting&calligraphy’ alley, shopfronts added sloping eaves and grey wall tiles to mimic traditional archi features. The guy sitting outside was engraving stone seals. #myfieldfootage

On the payment step, why the system keeps asking me to " Please select different date and time because all appointments are scheduled in this slot" despite I tried to select many many different dates and times? It is really frustrating! @VFSGlobal
