On March 21, 2026, at approximately 11:18 AM, Colton Police Officers attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a red, Honda, Civic in the area of North Grand Avenue and West Olive Street. The driver, Rodriguez, failed to yield, and a 50-minute vehicle pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, Rodriguez presented an extreme danger to the public and officers. Rodriguez ran multiple red traffic signals, operated his vehicle in opposing traffic lanes, and traveled at a high rate of speed through residential areas. Rodriguez intentionally attempted to strike police vehicles with his vehicle multiple of times and made gestures indicative of shooting pursuing officers. The pursuit ended when, Rodriguez was involved in a traffic collision with a parked Honda Pilot in the City of Redlands, allowing officers to block and contain his vehicle from continuing to evade. Rodriguez intentionally rammed and struck a police vehicle. While officers were attempting to place Rodriguez under arrest, Rodriguez actively resisted. Officers deployed their TASER, which was ineffective causing Officers to use alternative force options including, the use of a baton, punches, and knee strikes. Rodriguez was ultimately handcuffed and subsequently treated by medical personnel for minor injuries. Rodriguez is pending booking into the West Valley Detention Center for multiple felony charges. Rodriguez is a documented gang member, a convicted felon with multiple prior arrest for resisting arrest, firearm possession, carjacking, and felony evading. During the investigation, it was determined Rodriguez was the named suspect of shooting and killing a family dog that occurred earlier this month. Additionally, Rodriguez was in possession of stolen mail, which includes multiple victims and is being investigated. #grindfacetv
