We are the CHAMPIONS! Westwood's Battle of the Books team are the first ever champions! All teams worked so hard, read and re-read their books, and had so much fun! One team member said she woke up at 4 am and started re-reading her book to be ready! That's dedication!🎖️🙌🪇

Students had a blast with the inaugural "Conquer the Class" challenge. Students planned a path around the "continents", calculated how many sticks it would take to build a bridge the gaps and deliver their passengers. So much fun! @RichardsonISD @WestwoodJH_RISD @mottram_katie

@jaken0n @wfaa Good point. I can see how that correction makes the reality of this catastrophic event less tragic. What rate do you think qualifies as "nightmare ish"?s. Let us know when you define that number. Knowing that will help the grieving process, because that is what's important.

@yodascienceman @wfaa You may be conflating inches of rainfall with river flood stage, the two things are different. 3 inches of rainfall in an hour, for example could result in a rise in the river by 20 feet. It depends on many factors like the watershed characteristics and channel hydraulics.

@sybil1961 @wfaa Foolishness comes in all forms. If you don't know enough about the area to understand how extreme this event was, you should educate yourself. I hope those around you who are affected by this event know who you are.

@ninerdad5 @wfaa A 3-4 foot surge on the Guadalupe is manageable. You don't take special precautions on a 3-4 foot surge. You go to bed listening to the sound of rain. It hit 3-4 feet in seconds. If you are a cabin dead asleep with the water rising that fast...that would be true terror.

@LegacyPay @wfaa Don't mishear me, it's not the scientists fault, or the meteorologist fault it's the fault of the ppl that defund the national organizations that track national weather patterns. You can't have one person watching 15 weather events and expect accuracy.
