one thing that annoys me about this age— people coming up with terms for concepts/ideas that already exist so they can “break” the algorithm
call me an old man but it just feels gross. Language already there’s. Definitions exists for a reason. And inability to use already existing terms to contextualize current trends gets us caught in this weird zombie loop

Please punch me in the face if you ever see me at a soft clubbing function. Edit: I’m not hating on this activity. Yes it is healthier and yes Daybreak has been around a long time, but this rebrand and subsequent TikTokification feels adjacent to the bad vibes overoptimization burnout that a lot of people are feeling.

Will get some hate for this, but oh well.
- What’s happening in LA is insane
- People are pissed off for a reason
- People have a right to protest, peacefully
- The violence is ridiculous and unnecessary
- Rioting against local LA government (which is highly represented of Latinos and other underrepresented communities) is dumb
- Immigrants make this country great, especially in California
- People are so desperate to deport the hardest working people who make their lives better - let’s see you do the jobs nobody else is willing to do
- There should be a viable route to citizenship (like there once was 20-40 years ago)
- Citizenship should be available for those who obey the law, contribute to society, and come with good intentions
- The irony behind J6 supporters calling out LA rioters is just wild
- Local media is cooked, any remaining trust & reputation they had is likely lost
- The minority of people using “protests” as a cover for just expressing violence, looting, and destruction should be held accountable — they’re ruining it for the majority who are simply standing up for a cause they believe in
- The broad hate I’m seeing towards Mexicans online is straight up racist — don’t generalize an entire community based on a select group of outliers
-^^ on this last point, y’all know that X replies are public right? Seeing some people who I thought were level-headed (and otherwise respectable), say some really wild stuff online

when you start working out again or training hard, one little trick is using low intensity days like easy cardio to still be active but not (overly) increase your stress response especially the day after a hard workout
what this does is not only increase your work capacity (the amount of working out your body will get used to doing) but can also decrease the time it takes you to recover / feel better
you’ll also likely get in shape faster, obviously, as your time working out also increases
Too many people make the mistake of trying to stack hard workouts back to back when their body can’t handle it OR taking too many days completely off / cessation of activity after a hard workout
Below are a couple workouts from this week that I did back to back to illustrate my point

@michaelmiraflor I feel the same but in reverse. After cutting off Spotify in 2018 in favor of Apple Music I can’t bring myself to go back even though I found the personalization and song recommendations based on my preferences to be better.

@DJRTistic Lmao I went to the one in Culver City at 12pm today thinking it was gonna be a smooth process and the car line was out the parking while the walk-in line was out the door. It doesn’t add up! WE SEE THE TRUTH.

Twitter ain’t a real place because 95% of yall swear it’s trash, overrated, mid, etc etc and yet, it’s always an extremely long line. And I guarnteeee if it opened in other states on the east and south, it would still have just as long of a line. It’s not supposed to be gourmet

honestly, don’t be afraid to share your craft / skill and put it out in world for public consumption
you don’t need to grow a huge “following” but you do need a track record of “work”
key here is to get the right eyeballs on your work not just “a lot.” You can find success this way as well
Good work is not always popular but if someone who is popular finds your work, and thinks it is quality, that catalyst can change your life

a reason I’m so passionate about people engaging in health / wellness strategies (and give much away for free) is cause it’s clearly one of the last components of your life that is relatively under your control to improve your well-being.
so much else is the result of policy decisions made before you were born or just luck of the cosmic draw
but if you really don’t believe you have 10-30 minutes a day to just ~try~ basic movement, stress reduction strategies, or eat a little better all hope truly is lost

small nuance here but this is the wrong question. You really just want to know how to keep speed you can already run at, for longer. Not actually get “faster.”
Seems like semantics but you just gotta work on “speed endurance”
Easiest way is to do is
base/recovery runs - runs of 30-45+ minutes at at an “easy pace” 2-3x a week
tempo runs - holding a speed that’s “comfortably hard” for 5-15 minutes. Rest two minutes. Repeat 3-5x. Do this 1-2x a week
intense interval runs - speed work or VO2 max work. Easiest way for this is to do track workouts. 1-2x a week
Then recovery / prehab / strength work mixed in so you reduce chance of injury risk

@JoeHolder_ lol very. Quick question Joe, how can I run faster? Trying to trim my 9.33 minute miles down to about 8:45.
