All political violence is wrong @RupertLowe10. Your post condemned the left’s violence. But you forgot that of the right. I will never forget reporting on the murder of Jo Cox by a far-right fanatic. Or the murder of Sir David Amess. To ignore the blood shed by people you don’t agree with is to act like a fascist. All you had to do was close your post with this simple truth: all political violence is wrong.

Seeing a great deal of what Boris Johnson has suggested in my timeline, the idea that Kirk represented mainstream opinion/common sense. His murder is appalling. But this is nonsense. Some of his views -Profoundly conservative on gay rights. Didn’t believe in gay marriage. Said being gay was an “error” and compared to drug addiction. - didn’t believe in abortion in almost any circumstances. -called for a ban on all trans gender affirming care. -he spread falsehoods about voter fraud, Covid and other conspiracy theories. -suggested he opposed birth control and had very traditional views on women and how they should live their lives. -claimed the Great Replacement Theory was UK government policy. None of this could ever justify any violence. It is a matter of fact that his views were nowhere near mainstream. He clearly relished debate and was very influential. But in some cases, in many cases, his views were extreme.
