Extremist influencers encourage the followers to get into high stakes confrontations with police that have a high likelihood of provoking violence. Not only do people end up getting hurt or dying in those encounters, they also increase the tension between law enforcement and regular people in every other encounter. ICE agents get death threats from extremists all day long. Some completely innocent, regular guy drives his car the wrong way, and agents end up treating that as a possible attack, resulting in tragedy. This is the same as suicide bombing in the sense that leaders encourage those attacks no only as a way of striking out at whatever adversary, but to provoke retaliatory attacks that radicalize the neutral population.
