I am pleased to share with my friends, colleagues and professional network the arrival of my official Master of Science degree Certificate in Computer Science from Imo State University, Owerri - IMSU The programme concentration was on Data Communication and Network Engineering, and completed at Distinction level. This milestone means a lot to me because the journey was not without challenges. There were moments that tested my strength, discipline and resolve. Yet, by God’s sheer grace, I surmounted the hurdles and completed the programme successfully. Some may wonder why I chose to pursue another master’s degree, having already acquired four master’s degrees in different areas: Cloud Computing, Digital Transformation, Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics. The answer is simple. Technology does not stand still. Each field connects to the other, but each also demands depth. Cloud Computing gave me a stronger understanding of modern infrastructure and scalable digital services. Digital Transformation helped me understand how technology drives organisational change and business value. Cybersecurity strengthened my capacity to protect digital systems and manage risk. Digital Forensics deepened my knowledge of investigation, evidence and incident response. Data Communication and Network Engineering completes an important part of that knowledge chain. No digital system can function effectively without reliable networks. Cloud platforms, cybersecurity operations, digital services, enterprise systems, smart infrastructure and modern business processes all depend on secure, resilient and well-engineered communication networks. I chose to further in this area because I wanted stronger technical depth in the foundation that supports today’s digital economy. For me, continuous professional development is not about collecting degrees. It is about building competence, staying relevant and preparing to solve complex technology problems with clarity and confidence. I give all glory to God for His grace and strength. I also appreciate my family, mentors, lecturers, colleagues and everyone who supported me on this journey. This achievement is both a testimony and a fresh motivation to keep learning, keep growing and keep contributing to the technology profession and society. Gov Eno Issues July Deadline for Completion of Tabernacle Road, Threatens Contract Termination ...expresses dissatisfaction over slow pace of work ...seeks stronger partnership with media community as administration marks third anniversary By | Mfonobong Ukpong Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has issued a July deadline to the contractor handling the Tabernacle Road and drainage project, warning that the contract may be terminated if the project is not completed and handed over within the stipulated period. The project links Ikot Ekpene Road to the Calabar Itu Highway. Governor Eno gave the warning on Saturday, May 30, 2026, during a media parley with journalists at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo, as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration. He expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work on the road and its accompanying drainage infrastructure, noting that the contract was awarded in 2023 alongside the Goretti Secondary School Road reclamation and drainage project, which was handled by U&K Construction Company. The Governor said while U&K Construction Company had since completed and handed over its project, Nsik Engineering was yet to deliver the Tabernacle Road project, despite receiving similar timelines and conditions. He stressed that the state government was not indebted to the contractor and questioned the continued delay in completing the project. Governor Eno said he had shown considerable patience over the matter, but added that the situation could not continue indefinitely, especially as the delay had caused hardship to residents and motorists who use the road. He disclosed that the contractor had assured the government that the project would be completed by July, warning that failure to meet the deadline would leave the administration with no option but to terminate the contract and re-award it to a more competent firm. The Governor also used the occasion to seek stronger collaboration between the Akwa Ibom State Government and the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in promoting the state’s development agenda. Highlighting the achievements of his administration in the past three years, Governor Eno reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining and expanding development initiatives across the state in line with the ARISE Agenda. Earlier, the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, said Governor Eno’s three years in office had been defined by impactful and people-oriented governance driven by the ARISE Agenda. He listed major achievements recorded across critical sectors, including agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, aviation, security, housing, tourism, youth empowerment and economic reforms, noting that every local government area in the state had benefited from government projects and programmes. Umanah said the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and inclusive governance had helped to improve living standards, expand economic opportunities and sustain growth across the state. He assured that the government would remain focused on consolidating its gains and accelerating development in the years ahead. Other members of the State Executive Council, as well as heads of departments and agencies, also briefed journalists on the achievements and programmes implemented by their respective ministries, departments and agencies during the period under review.

GOVERNOR ENO INVESTS N743 BILLION IN ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE IN THREE YEARS …directs Re-award of 12.15km Ikot Akpan Abia–Enen Nsit Road Project By AmanamHillary Umo-Udofia Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has disclosed that his administration has invested a total of N743 billion in road infrastructure projects across the State within its first three years, reaffirming his commitment to expanding connectivity, stimulating economic growth and opening up communities for development. The Governor made this known during a media briefing held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration. Making an unscheduled appearance at the briefing, Governor Eno reiterated the achievements recorded under the ARISE Agenda and described road infrastructure as one of the defining pillars of his development blueprint. According to him, his administration has pursued an aggressive road construction and rehabilitation programme across the three senatorial districts, linking rural communities to urban centres and improving access to markets and other economic opportunities. “As of today, we have completed a total of 1,348 kilometres of roads within three years, and we are proud of that milestone as a sub-national government,” the Governor stated. Governor Eno also addressed concerns over the abandoned 12.15km Ikot Akpan Abia–Oboyo Ikot Ita–Enen Nsit Road project, describing it as critical to the socio-economic development of the affected communities. He consequently announced that he had directed that the project be reassessed and re-awarded, with work expected to commence within one month. “It will be an aberration for me as an Nsit son not to do the Enen Nsit Road because when I finish serving the people, I will return to the village and they will definitely ask me what I did for them while in office,” he said. The Governor assured residents that the necessary scoping and technical evaluations were already underway to facilitate the immediate reconstruction of the road. On road maintenance, Governor Eno directed the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service to immediately constitute a committee comprising representatives of Civil Society Organisations to assess previously awarded pothole rehabilitation contracts worth N1.6 billion and identify additional failed sections requiring urgent government intervention. The Governor further warned that his administration would terminate the contracts for the Tabernacle Road project and the 16-kilometre Midim–Atan–Ikot Nyang–Ikot Imonte Road, including its 30-metre span bridge linking Essien Udim and Etim Ekpo Local Government Areas, should the contractor fail to meet the completion guarantees given for July 2026. Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga, disclosed that the administration’s N743 billion investment in road infrastructure reflects Governor Eno’s determination to address longstanding infrastructure deficits while laying the foundation for sustainable economic development. Giving a breakdown of the achievements recorded in the sector, Prof. Ibanga said the administration has delivered a total of 1,348 kilometres of roads and 40 bridges across the State. “Out of this figure, 41 inherited road projects spanning 341.359 kilometres, with 14 bridges, have been completed. This excludes 43 rural road projects totalling 202.83 kilometres under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), funded by the World Bank, AFD, AfDB and supported by the State Government,” he explained. He added that the administration has embarked on more than 94 road projects traversing the three senatorial districts, covering a total distance of 504.902 kilometres and incorporating 25 bridges, eight of which are dual carriageways. Prof. Ibanga also revealed that the State has installed over 6,000 solar-powered streetlights in the first phase of a statewide programme initiated by Governor Eno to replace expensive generator-powered lighting systems. He said the initiative has significantly reduced operating costs while improving road safety, visibility and the aesthetic appeal of major roads and public spaces. Earlier in the briefing, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Aniekan Umanah, and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh, commended journalists and media organisations for their continued support in projecting government policies, programmes and achievements. They noted that the ARISE Agenda has remained the guiding framework of the administration and expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded across its key thematic areas over the past three years. The media interaction attracted members of the State Executive Council, heads of ministries, departments and agencies, journalists, civil society organisations and other stakeholders in the information and communication sector.

GOV ENO LAUNCHES TREE CROPS REVOLUTION WITH 620,000 OIL PALM SEEDLINGS ....Reaffirms commitment to resuscitating abandoned projects Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has launched a tree crops revolution initiative with the procurement of 620,000 oil palm seedlings for distribution to farmers across the state. The launch took place on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the premises of the Akwa Ibom Agricultural Development Programme, AKADEP, recently revamped by the governor. Speaking at the event, Governor Eno said the initiative was part of the Agricultural Revolution component of the ARISE Agenda and a key step in his administration’s agriculture and food security drive. He said oil palm had long been central to the identity, economy and heritage of Akwa Ibom people, adding that his administration was determined to restore the state’s cultural and economic strength through agriculture. “Oil palm in this region, particularly in Akwa Ibom State, was more than a crop. It was a symbol of wealth, heritage, enterprise and community life. Today, we are returning to our generational lifestyle because oil palm has always been a major resource and source of our forefathers’ wealth,” the governor said. Governor Eno said Akwa Ibom would take its rightful place in oil palm production by planting the crop across the length and breadth of the state. He described the initiative as a deliberate wealth-creation programme for households and communities. According to him, farmers selected for the programme have been profiled, with 500 households captured in each local government area for proper guidance, monitoring and evaluation. “Three years from now, you will begin to harvest and become a millionaire, and it will last forever from generation to generation. We are, by this programme, placing major wealth in your hands to grow and prosper significantly,” he said. The governor urged residents to embrace the initiative, saying anyone willing to work would have an opportunity to earn a decent living and support their family. He commended the collaboration between the state government and the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research, NIFOR, which he said would ensure speedy and reliable supply of high-quality seedlings. Governor Eno, who had previously served as Executive Director of Agricultural Investments in the state investment corporation, said the state had procured 620,000 oil palm seedlings and urged NIFOR’s management to deliver according to schedule. Speaking on AKADEP, the governor recalled that the facility had been abandoned for many years and was in poor condition when he first visited. He appreciated the Direct Labour Committee for helping to revive the facility. He reaffirmed that his administration would continue to resuscitate economically viable projects left uncompleted by previous administrations, rather than allow such investments to waste. In her remarks, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Offiong Offor, praised the governor for his sustained investment in agriculture. She cited the equipment leasing company, grants and inputs to farmers, as well as the Ibom Model Farm, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to food production and rural empowerment. The Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area and State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, thanked the governor for what he described as a bold initiative aimed at repositioning oil palm production in the state. He congratulated Governor Eno on his pragmatic leadership and transformational policies, and assured him that local government chairmen would support the tree crops revolution initiative. In his goodwill message, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of NIFOR, Dr Gold Leonard Isona, commended the governor for his foresight and commitment to empowering Akwa Ibom people through the agricultural revolution vision of the ARISE Agenda. He described the event as more than a ceremony, saying it marked a visionary step towards sustainable independence, food security and rural prosperity. Also speaking, the Paramount Ruler of Uyo, Edidem Sylvanus Okon, commended Governor Eno for his development strides, especially in agriculture and tree crops investment. He assured the governor of the support of the traditional institution for the success of the programme.

GOV ENO COMMISSIONS ROADS, YOUTH DEVT CENTRE, HEALTH CENTRE IN ORON ... as Oro Nation endorses him for second term in office Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commissioned five life touching projects in Oron Local Government Area. The projects which include a Model Primary Health Centre; Youth Development Centre; 4.2 kilometre Effiong Esang and Ukpong Streets, alongside 800 metres of discharge drains; and a new administrative building at Oron Local Government Council headquarters, were described as people-centric and unprecedented. Inaugurating the Model Primary Health Centre, Governor Eno charged the people of Oron to avail themselves of the accessibility, affordability, and high quality service of the health facility to improve on their health status. He stated that the Youth Development Centre in Oron was the first to be completed, adding that similar centres would be replicated across the 31 Local Government Areas of the state. He also urged youths to take full advantage of the facilities in their respective areas for their personal development and the overall progress of the state. The Governor said when completed in the 31 local government areas, a total of 31,000 youths will be trained annually in different skills, including ICT, fashion and design, catering, and others. He said his administration created a stand alone Ministry of Youth Development, in order to prioritize the empowerment of youths in the State. The Governor noted that the youth friendly centres, primary health centres and other facilities of government across the State are targeted at decentralizing development and reducing rural- urban migration. Commissioning the 4.2km roads with 800 metre discharge drains, the Governor said the excitement was not really that the roads have been constructed but the fact that the suffering of the people occasioned by the devastating erosion and the deplorable vicinity has finally ended. At the local government administrative block named after him, the Governor commended the Chairman of Oron Local Government Council, Hon. Okon Asukwo Enmewe, for his great sense of hard work, and commitment to service, and also commended all the local government chairmen in the State for their impactful leadership, and assured of continuous partnership for the development of the State. Speaking during his endorsement by a group, Friends of Umo Eno in Oro Nation, held at Oron Township Stadium, Governor Eno appreciated the people for their trust, loyalty and solidarity, and for massively voting for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, himself and other candidates during the APC Primaries. He assured them of continued commitment to more transformative initiatives in his second term. Earlier in an overview of the primary health facility, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Emmanuel John Ekem, disclosed that the facility was specially built to serve as a feeder to other primary health centres in Oro Nation, and enjoined the people of the area to secure and make quality use of the facility for their health needs. At the Youth Development Centre, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr. Ekerete Ekanem, commended the Governor for the significant investment in the facility, noting that it is designed to transform the economic prospects of youths across the State. He further described the centre in Oron as a comprehensive hub for youth economic empowerment and transformation. At the new road project, the Commissioner for Works, Prof. Eno Ibanga, assured that the work done in the area has completely eliminated the erosion menace experienced over the years by the people, and specially thanked the Governor for his magnanimity. In her remark at the endorsement rally, the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, acknowledged the Governor's development strides in Oron in particular and in Oro Nation in general, and expressed her gratitude to the Governor for picking her, once again, as his running mate for the 2027 election. Appreciating the people of Oro Nation for the endorsement rally and vote of confidence on her father, the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, assured that the Governor will continue to serve the interest of the people, adding that the ARISE Agenda, which is set for a review, will continue to impact on them and the State as a whole. In a motion moved and seconded by Hon. Esio Okwong Udo and Hon. Peter Linus Umoh respectively, and moderated by the member representing Oron Federal Constituency, Hon. Martins Esin, the people thanked the Governor for his exceptional love and commitment to transforming Oro Nation, and pledged their full support for him till 2031. In their separate goodwill messages, Engr. Emmanuel Ekuwem; the Paramount Ruler of Oron, Odidem Bassey Etim Edet; Ikpoto Okon Osung; and Mrs. Alice Ekpenyong, praised the Governor for the people-oriented projects which they described as historic and heartwarming.

Oron Has Every Reason to Support Gov Umo Eno By | Destiny Young For the people of Oron, Tuesday, May 26, 2026, is more than another date on the government calendar. It is a day that speaks to presence, attention, and practical development. Governor Umo Eno will be in Oron to commission key intervention projects that touch health, administration, youth development, roads, drainage, and social infrastructure. These are the kind of projects that ordinary people can see, use, and measure in their daily lives. The commissioning programme begins with the Primary Health Centre at Base, Oron Local Government Area. This is a direct investment in public health. For families, mothers, children, elderly citizens, and rural dwellers, a functional primary health centre means easier access to basic medical care. It means fewer long trips for simple treatment. It means that government has brought health services closer to the people. The Governor will also commission an administrative block built by the Oron Local Government Council. This project strengthens local governance. A well-equipped administrative facility improves public service delivery, record keeping, coordination, and the daily work of local government officials. Development is not only about roads and buildings. It is also about the institutions that serve the people. Another important project is the Youth Development Centre in Oron. This intervention speaks directly to the future of the area. Young people need spaces where they can gather, learn, train, organise, and prepare for opportunities. By supporting youth-focused infrastructure, the administration is sending a clear message that the next generation must not be left behind. The Governor will also commission the 2.1km Ukpong Street and Effiong Esang Street road with an 800-metre span discharge drain. This is one of the most visible and practical interventions in the area. Roads open up communities. Drainage protects homes, shops, and public spaces from flooding. Together, the road and drain will improve movement, support business activity, and raise the quality of life for residents. For years, communities have asked for interventions that go beyond promises. In Oron, the evidence is now on the ground. A road that was once difficult to pass can now support easier movement. A community that faced drainage challenges now has a better channel for water discharge. These are real improvements. The inspection visit to the Oron Maritime Project also carries strong economic meaning. Oron’s identity is tied to the sea, trade, fishing, transport, and maritime potential. Any serious attention to maritime infrastructure in Oron is a step towards unlocking jobs, commerce, and wider economic activity. It also shows that the state government recognises Oron’s strategic place in Akwa Ibom’s development map. The official endorsement of Governor Umo Eno by Friends of Umo Eno in Oron adds a political meaning to the day. It shows that support for the Governor is not built on words alone. It is connected to visible interventions, community confidence, and the belief that Oron has not been ignored. Oron has every reason to be happy. The Governor is not coming empty-handed. He is coming with projects that touch the daily needs of the people. He is coming with evidence of governance. He is coming with a message that development must reach communities across the state. These interventions also fit into the broader ARISE Agenda, which places emphasis on rural development, economic growth, human capital, infrastructure, and community impact. In Oron, that agenda is taking shape through health care, roads, drainage, youth development, local administration, and maritime prospects. Support for Governor Umo Eno in Oron should therefore be seen as support for continuity, stability, and development. It should be support for a leader who has chosen to translate policy into projects. It should be support for an administration that understands that people judge government by what they can feel in their communities. For Oron, the message is clear. Development has come in practical form. The people have seen the projects. They know the difference these interventions can make. That is why Oron has every reason to support Governor Umo Eno. --- Citp’ Destiny Young, FIIM, MCPN, serves as the Special Assistant (New Media & Digital Communication) to the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, H.E. EVERY MORNING YOU HAVE TWO CHOICES: CONTINUE TO SLEEP WITH YOUR DREAMS OR WAKE UP AND CHASE THEM! Every morning gives you a fresh decision. You can remain comfortable and keep imagining the life you want, or you can rise and take one step towards it. Dreams are important. They give direction. They show you what your heart desires and what your mind can create. But dreams alone do not change your life. Action does. Waking up to chase your dreams means accepting responsibility. It means showing up even when you are tired. It means doing the small things that do not look glamorous but move you forward. It means studying, building, calling, writing, praying, planning, saving, learning, failing, trying again, and staying consistent. Many people love the idea of success. Few people love the discipline that produces it. The difference between those who only dream and those who achieve is not always talent. It is often routine. It is what they do daily when nobody is clapping. It is how they use their mornings. It is how they handle delay. It is how they respond when the first attempt fails. Your dream will not chase you. You must chase it. So when morning comes, do not only wake up from sleep. Wake up from excuses. Wake up from fear. Wake up from procrastination. Wake up from waiting for perfect conditions. Start where you are. Use what you have. Take the next step. Because every new morning is not just another day. It is another chance to become the person your dream requires. (c) Destiny Young
