@DamScanlan Yes, Damien Frost restricts plant hight, that’s good & bad. Planting times is critical. If there is enough topsoil on top of the water holding contours to support plant life.

@AdamCoffeyNT I think when the data from CarbonLink hits the airwaves and soil carbon ACCU's are finally issued, a lot of speculation will be removed. We have to play the long game.

@flowerchimes Many! Several different N-fixing trees, groundcovers, and herbaceous species. The exact species vary across the farm according to elevation. I'll put together a complete list at some point.

The typical coffee farm applies ~ 200 kg/ha of synthetic nitrogen each year, an excessive amount I worked with this farm to phase out synthetic N and cut a total of 195,000 kgs of annual applications The trees are healthier, higher yielding, and the coffee tastes better...

@samdknowlton Similar soil carbon rates of sequester C02e/ha/yr been recorded in northern tropical Australia. Soil core samples data recorded in the pasture grasses of the mature Leucaena hedgerows.

With the addition of hardwoods, Intensive silvopasture systems can sequester 26.6 tons of CO2 per hectare. The high digestibility of Leucaena leaves can reduce cattle methane production by 20-30% Combined, this is a huge GHG reduction compared to conventional beef production

Intensive Silvopasture is an agroforestry practice that combines high densities of nitrogen-fixing trees with grasses. The trees and grasses are grazed by livestock in a managed rotation. Within the proper context, these systems offer several massive benefits.
