@Saralimback Literally this. I see so many try and define women as individuals with 'baby-carrying capabilities'. Leaving aside trans people for a moment, that's an insult to so many cis women. My understanding of feminism was about making sure women were seen as more than objects & enablers

The assumption that all women are able to have a child, and that this is the role that defines women is deeply traumatic for those of us unable to take part in this “challenge”. Stop it with the hate.

@vftpottingbench I cut mine in half and then snip tabs on one end and fold in. Works amazingly! I always squeeze the plugs into those long mushroom trays - I get about 12 in 😊

Ok I’m putting it out there. Loo rolls for seed sowing are crap (or at least they are for me). They just fall apart (before they’re meant to) and it just doesn’t work. Unless I’m ‘doing it wrong’?? 😂

@Saralimback I thought about this a while back and came to the conclusion that we mostly eat the fruit of plants, thus the plants are left to die back. Or in many cases the plant is readying for its maturity and death anyway!

@SallyNex Oh and a couple of tips - grass chopped up with a strimmer really heats things up and make sure each layer of the pile is damp (as a rule of thumb, I do 10L can of water each cycle of woodchip and greens).

@SallyNex And then water well (10 litres per later). The beauty of doing this is that a) the pile reaches 50/60C, & b) I have viable compost with no slug eggs & fewer weed seeds in after 1-3 months 😊

Q: How do you find enough organic matter for #nodig? A: With difficulty. I have 3 large compost bins & that mulches 2 of my 16 veg beds. I buy green waste from the council (see pic) - but this cancels carbon gains from no dig due to hi-carbon delivery. It's a dilemma. #nodigday

@SallyNex I appreciate it sounds a lot, and even I was hesitant at first. But now I see it like a cake recipe & my crops grow really well (best bit is I haven't spent any £)

Also the idea that you shouldn’t plant tomatoes till they flower is just not true. As simple as that. In fact the sooner you get them out, the more roots grow, and the better the crop. I hold flowering back to ensure those strong roots. #shoutyhalfhour #GardenersWorld

@SkinnyJeanGard I think the thing people seem to be missing here is visiting a garden virtually is not going to be the only option. Yes, a great many of us don't interact with the world that way, bt there are many people who do. Lots of people don't have the transport (me) to gt to these places.

Nothing. NOTHING is better than experience gardening in real life. But keeping up with tech to get people started is key to the future of new Gardeners. Abit like how Instagram is bigged up for getting new Gardeners into the garden
