“Can someone explain to me like i’m 9 years old why $SPCX is crashing right now?” Hey Noah, great question. The reason it's dropping right now today is fresh news: this morning SpaceX said it wants to borrow about $20 billion (that's called selling "bonds", basically a giant IOU). 1/ It surprised people. Imagine the most famous, supposedly super-rich company in the world suddenly says, "Hey, we need to borrow a HUGE pile of money." Some people go, "Wait… if you're worth $2 trillion and so amazing, why do you need to borrow $20 billion right now?" That makes them nervous, and nervous people sell. When lots sell at once, the price drops. 2/There are barely any shares to trade. Almost all the SpaceX pieces are locked in a box until later; only a tiny sliver actually trades. So when a few people sell, the price swings really hard, like a seesaw with one kid on each end. One push and it tips. 3/ It had already flown too high. It went from $135 → $225 in a few days on pure excitement. It was due to cool off, and the borrowing news was the little push that started it. (It's still above the $135 it started at, so it's calming down, not falling apart.) tl;dr: tiny float makes a normal cooldown look like a "crash". Next weird move, send it our way. But bundling X and XAi into it, it feels off, not right. X and XAi are struggling financially. Combining them with SpaceX is diluting the strength of SpaceX.
