I am totally radicalized on the issue of criminal justice. We should increase executions by like a thousand percent. Bring back hard labor. Bring back corporal punishment. Bring back public lashings. Bring back public hangings. Our ancestors were right about all of that.

If Trump is going to spend huge amounts of political capital on something ugly and difficult but necessary, it should be mass deportations of every single illegal alien regardless of age or criminal record, and defying every judge who tries to stop him. That is the kind of war, the kind of risky move with potentially disastrous political ramifications (but maybe not), that I would get behind every step of the way and so would millions of ordinary Americans. It’s an extreme measure that must be done and if Trump doesn’t do it, it’s likely that no one ever will.

We were told the program was “obliterated” in the summer. That’s what they told us. Direct quote. It cannot be the case that the program was both obliterated and also close to being “immune” to attack. That is a logical impossibility. A contradiction in terms. Like a square circle. It makes no sense.

I know some of my followers here are annoyed at me but I have to call it like I see it. A basic level of honesty is an obligation that comes with having a public platform. This operation seemed like a bad idea to me before it happened, and I said so. Now that it is happening, I’m not going to suddenly change my tune. It still seems like a bad idea to me. I hope I’m wrong. But that’s how I see it.

"If you disagree with what the government is doing, stay silent until they finish doing it." That's just about the most un-American sentiment you could possibly express. It's also the same bullshit emotional blackmail that's been used to silence the critics of every terrible policy in my lifetime, from covid to Iraq and beyond. I'm not falling for it.

So far we’ve heard that although we killed the whole Iranian regime, this was not a regime change war. And although we obliterated their nuclear program, we had to do this because of their nuclear program. And although Iran was not planning any attacks on the US, they also might have been, depending on who you ask. And although we are not fighting this war to free the Iranian people, they are now free, or might be, depending on who seizes power, and we have no idea who that will be. The messaging on this thing is, to put it mildly, confused.

If you're against our actions in Iran, I understand, I am too. If you're actively rooting for Iran to win, which involves the death and defeat of Americans, you're a traitor and should be deported, at a minimum.

The proponents of this war insist that Iran is not Iraq. Fine. But Iran also isn’t Venezuela. It’s foolhardy to think you can just drop in, take out the top guy, and leave with no problem like we did in that case. Iran isn’t Iraq but it’s much closer to Iraq than it is Venezuela.

I acknowledge that the government has access to all kinds of information that I don’t have. They could have reasons for doing what they’re doing that I don’t know about or understand. But that is also the exact argument we heard during COVID, when all of the people with more information chose a course of action that was disastrous for the country, and we still haven’t recovered. I understand that this is a different situation. Maybe the outcome will be different too. But you have to understand that the “trust the experts” logic died with COVID and it’s never coming back. From now on and forever more the experts will need to make their case clearly and coherently, explain exactly what they’re doing and why they’re doing it and what the end game is and what information justifies whatever course of action they’ve chosen. Just simply trusting that they have it all under control is not going to work anymore. At least for those of us with a memory that stretches back farther than last week.
