106 years ago on 7 Jul 1918, Chinese shopkeeper Fong Sue came home in Ewarton #Jamaica to find his “paramour” Caroline Lindo in bed with policeman Acting Cpl “Pretty Man” McDonald. Fong and friends beat up Pretty Man who ran off and hid in nearby bushes. Rumours that he had been killed precipitated widespread anger. Chinese shops were looted and burnt in St Catherine, St Ann, St Mary and Clarendon. 1,000 people participated, 452 were arrested, and 300 sentenced to one year at hard labour.

Phillip, (@PhillipPaulwell) In your capacity as Leader of Opposition Business in the Lower House, Please see the memo I sent out today to the utility and telecom CEOs. I would ask you to communicate with your colleagues on opposition side to advise me of status of their constituencies re: JPS and Telcos in order for me to raise with them tomorrow at 11 am cabinet meeting and thereafter. Please feel free to have them send me directly or through you so I can have the information to address these concerns on behalf of the full 63 seats affecting all Jamaica 🇯🇲.
