@trinbans @KatryaLy It is indeed disheartening that while students of color wish to benefit from the system, they cannot simply due to the racism embedded in the intercollegiate athletics system.#UCR50 @TA_ED50

Despite the law explicitly calling for equal race admission, representation, and participation in intercollegiate athletics, racism is still widely embraced. The high number of race-related lawsuits proves this. #ucr50 @TA_ED50

@abigailliu050 @abhornUCRedu Hello Abigail. The National Collegiate Athletic Association acts as an independent governing body of college athletics. Despite the government playing fundamental roles of oversight and control, the body makes solid decisions based on college athletics.#UCR50 @TA_ED50

The current control rules of the NCAA are exploitative as they make money using athletes’ names, likenesses, and images while not providing any financial rewards to the athletes. #ucr50 @TA_ED50

@amieucr @abhornUCRedu Hello amie,I definitely pictured the coach as a man. The society, for a better part, is biased to think coaching in athletics is for men and women play a little role in it. We often align with such prejudices. #ucr50 @TA_ED50

picture a coach instructing their team at a game, leading them to victory, and getting gatorade poured on their head. did you picture the coach as a man or woman? most probably think of a man. if you did why do you think that is? #ucr50 @abhornUCRedu

Hegemonic masculinity largely curtails women’s participation and leadership in sports. As it ascribed power to men, it delineates women from opportunities. If we seek to enhance inclusivity in intercollegiate athletics, we must deal with hegemonic masculinity. #ucr50 @TA_ED50

@amieucr @abhornUCRedu Hi Amie. It is true athletic teams comprising of White and Black students have a more positive base than White vs Blacks. This promotes cohesion and diversity in athletics. @TA_ED50

team sports can help with peoples thoughts on diversity. white athletes with black teammates have a more positive outlook on black people vs white athletes in solo sports #ucr50 @abhornUCRedu

Campus athletics provides a solid platform for distinct racial students to interact and help one another not only in succeeding in athletics and education but also in enhancing mental wellness. #ucr50 @TA_ED50

@jazminh3rnandez @TA_ED50 It is true that increased drug abuse among athletes can be related to the struggle for perfection and performance. Whereas athletics also induces life-long injuries, in some way, it may affect their lives negatively. #Ucraina @KatryaLy

Student athletes go through a lot of efforts to make the school look good while also balancing their academics and personal life. The mental effects can be exhausting, which is why extra support from coaches & staff is crucial! #UCR50 @TA_ED50

Intercollegiate athletics presidents act as important personalities in implementing ethics in the much-contested college sports. By implementing confidentiality, responsibility, and integrity, they ensure ethical objectives are realized. #ucr50 @TA_ED50

@Daniella0116 @abhornUCRedu I agree that some form of incentives would make students somehow lazy or focus more on sports than academics. However, it is important to understand not all students may be receiving aid as some may be self-sponsored.@KatryaLy #ucr50

Balancing athletics and academics is a struggle. Academics require extra reading sessions, group work, research, and timely submission of assignments whereas athletics call for dedication in training, travelling, and competition. How do we balance the two? #ucr50  @TA_ED50

@emilyVM723 @abhornUCRedu It is unrealistic that coaches should be seen as more valuable than professors. Despite their critical role in enhancing sporting activities in colleges, professors play an important role in imparting students with knowledge and understanding. #ucr50

Should we be having the controversy on the taxation of college sports? I think it’s a non-logical controversy. Why should you tax something that provides students with an opportunity to build confidence, skills, and be fit and relax their mind?#UCR50 @TA_ED50

Becoming full-time students, do they have real-time for themselves? I saw a very interesting post. NCAA closed on California Polytechnic because it gave students too much money to pay for textbooks. So who ended up with the money they earned with their sweat? @KatryaLy #UCR50

@viveanbonales @KatryaLy I agree that due to the changes in academic standards in recent years, students must be full-time students to ensure that students are admitted, but what can they get in the end from daily training and competition? Is it helpful to athletes?#UCR50 @KatryaLy

according to the NCAA, academic experience for student athletes is provided but is it really in athlete’s best interests? they are not awarded adequately and held under heavy performance pressure. #UCR50 @KatryaLy
