Ok, I have spent the past several hours going through XHS and here is what I'm mostly seeing in terms of how ways we can help fight back:
1️⃣ Continue to boycott, save your money and don't give Infold a cent. Still express your love for Valko and the positive impact he has, and the connection he would strengthen to CN media and culture! Keep your voices loud and be prepared to wait this out until controversy starts to calm down over there.
2️⃣ Debunk the fabricated slanderous news coverage of this character, be positive about his qualities, keep using all the usual hashtags and #ValkoWasFramed , because there is not much that can be done to fight back against the dishonest media coverage over there around this character. We need to be positive and clear to help improve public opinion of him with the proof that Valko and his content is NOTHING like its being framed. The horrible public opinion of Valko seems to be the #1 thing keeping him gone, and for Infold's silence.
3️⃣ Voice concern about the impact of the slander and smear campaign that is keeping Valko canceled, and how this specifically harms trust, connection, and engagement with CN media and future games. Chinese cultural export matters so much, and if this is creating a tremendous detriment to that goal, that's the worst case scenario. And it is already impacting overseas trust unfortunately.
4️⃣ Still apply pressure to Infold/Papergames. While this mess has snowballed into the scale it is now, all of this was preventable. They were still cowardly and made selfish decisions that led to this point. Even after this all blows over, there's no guarantee they will decide to bring Valko back - so we still need to make our criticisms clear, while specifying we will only financially support the game again upon Valko's release and actually addressing player feedback. We can and should still criticize all of their mistreatment. There's no need for hysterics or to get too extreme, but like I said before, we aren't coddling and defending the company either. Just be wary of over emotional expressions. We understand the reason for their current silence right now, but we still have every right to voice our upset and criticisms. We shouldn't be soft on them! It is still up to Infold to clean up their own messes.
5️⃣ Don't believe in rumors!! It's crazy how regularly this is constantly happening still. Some infighting is on purpose to sow division and provide ammunition to deceitful parties. Don't fall for rumors meant to stir up anger, frustration, despair, or getting us to turn on ANYONE. Stay collected and focused. We need to support each other through this for what might be awhile.
➖ Contacting CN news media is contentious right now.
Many CN players are just as split and unsure of what else would be best for us to do to help at the moment. Some are saying they might only listen to overseas voices because they don't really have a voice, others are saying it might be too risky and make things worse right now. They say changing public opinion with our loud and continued voices might draw that needed attention.
It is probably safer to continue posting about Valko on socials, give feedback in support tickets, and emailing Infold/Papergames with all of the above things instead.
❌ DO NOT overstep and criticize or get involved in any way with CN politics. Being political was never the focus of our goal and this movement anyway, but we must remain respectful, things are already tense enough for CN players who want Valko back.
