November is Diabetes awareness month. On May 23rd of this year I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. There is no cure for this awful autoimmune disease, but it is very manageable. I have the best support staff out there. With all this being said I am a proud Type 1 Diabetic.

He had one of the best pitching coaches at LSU. One thing I always remember Wes Johnson saying when he was at Arkansas my first two years: “Being great is boring.” It’s the consistent grind with the “boring” stuff: pickoffs, mobility, dry work, fundamentals that separates the great ones. No one wants to hear it, but the great ones just show up and do it every single day with great energy, focus and intent. Here’s the thing: doing the same routine day after day, week after week, year after year…it gets boring. Repetitive. Monotonous. But that’s exactly what builds greatness. The consistency over a long time turns the boring into automatic, the fundamentals into weapons, and the grind into something that separates you when it matters. Brilliance doesn’t come from chasing novelty, it comes from mastering the boring stuff longer than everyone else.
