@JaBArcade Thank you for your thoughts! It can be interesting to see what different people think is redundancy or not and whether they like it or not.

Very interesting how you can interpret this and what classes as “unique”
If we are talking weapons you can split it over and over again
ranged or melee are unique
Sword, axe, ect is unique
Long sword, short sword ect is unique
Lightning element, no element ect is unique
Does it scale with strength, dex ect ect is unique.
If a recent weapon is 2 weapons that fit the exact same as from above, yeah I wouldn’t have them but just little tweaks like a long sword that uses a little more dex or a little more strength. Even that far down the chain. I think they are worth it
Anyway ramble over. Good question though got me thinking!

@thneebdev nice work!! though i find it interesting you're including Master Hand in your game about climbing

@yuronkdev I'd say it's just a function of refinement. Ideally everything is unique. But you also need a base quantity of items for the game to feel like a game. So start with everything being same-ish, and with more time and ideas start making each item more special

@EnderRaccoonVT i see what you're saying. this is what i like in games, a bit of both. thanks for sharing your thoughts!

@yuronkdev I personally feel like as long as the reskins are novel enough, it registers as functionally different to me. If a particular weapon sounds a certain way that another doesn’t, that can sometimes be enough to make it more fun to use. A good mix of both approaches is what I like.

@yuronkdev I prefer when everything is unique, but redundancy can be fun for people that like to customize their "fashion".
An alternative could be to have everything unique but add some layer of customization, like dyes maybe.
