It failed even Muhammad. According to the Islamic sources, Muhammad was poisoned by a Jewish woman at Khaybar. He survived initially but later admitted that the poison was still killing him. If Ruqyah truly had supernatural healing power, why couldn't Muhammad cure himself with the very Quran he claimed was Allah's perfect revelation? Instead of being healed, he died from the effects of the poison. Yet today, many Muslims still pay sheikhs and self-appointed Ruqyah experts to recite verses over the sick, promising healing that their own prophet never experienced. If it could not cure the founder of Islam, why should anyone believe it can cure everyone else?
