The biggest thing actually wrong is items making you basically invulnerable and game over literally cannot happen even if you hit 0 HP **twice over** because the pauses and lets you use a phoenix down.

As I revisit FFXV's combat I am reminded of it's strengths and weaknesses. I think it actually has more merit to it than it gets credit for in some areas, and is just baffling in others. That said, Holding Square/O is the least thing 'wrong' with that game's combat actually.
