Earlier this morning Janey passed away in her sleep. Her family were with her.
The love and support from all her friends and fans during this cancer journey brought her enormous joy. It has also been a huge comfort to us, her family and close friends, thank you.
@CarrieGrant1@BBCNewsnight You’re so very right in all you say. My daughter is almost 18 and has been repeatedly and consistently let down by the SEND system. I’ve had to do all the research myself and do what I can. I’m on my knees and she still needs help. We’re both broken.
I’m now at end of life care - palliative care-and will be going into a hospice for the foreseeable - thanks to everyone who sends me love and support- you’ve been amazing
The outpouring of love today has been immense - thanks to you all - am still in hospital recovering from sepsis and getting treatment for the symptoms of the spread of cancer
Today is a day I can't really ignore, because whether I want to mark it or not, my body reminds me regardless.
Six years ago, conflicted, but optimistic, i thought I was doing the right thing getting 'Sex Reassignment surgery'.
A Long Story 🧵
@PaulGarvey4@BBCNewsnight In addition, no amount of Govt ‘speech’ will replace the excellent work teachers do. It’s just a shame no actually seeks every day teachers opinions! We are easy to blame for everything!
@PaulGarvey4@BBCNewsnight That’s a very fair point. I’m not suggesting Tom Bennett is any kind of saviour for behaviour, I was just saying he made a fair point (mostly) I’m far more in favour of investments in schools to help support SEND children as opposed to paying for pen pushers for ‘ideas’
"... a disaster most of which can be prevented"
Former Children's Commissioner for England, Anne Longfield, says primary school children excluded because of their special educational need have been failed. Tom Bennett advisor to the Department for Education disagrees.
@PaulGarvey4@BBCNewsnight I’m afraid I have to agree with Tom Bennett. As a teacher of 27 years, I can tell you that no amount of Govt spin will help schools face the needs they are seeing every day. Budgets are so tight teachers are being laid off, SEND support is squeezed and children suffer.
@BBCNewsnight Well would you believe it? But it is Anne’s view that is the one held by the vast majority in education.
Bennett’s views are not the way forward for SEND pupils, or any other pupil, for that matter.

@Matthew_Hodson I remember watching those horrid adverts in the 80s and knew people affected by AIDS. It was truly terrifying. I will always stand shoulder to shoulder with those fighting this disease. Much love to you ❤️
A 🧵 on #AIDS in the 80s/90s:
I was 15 when I first had sex with a man.
I’d snuck off to London’s Heaven nightclub with the express intent of ridding myself of my ‘gay virginity’, a goal I achieved easily with a visiting American photographer.
