Zenno Signs Supertorquer Simulation Contract with Mitsubishi Electric Under the contract, Zenno will build and deliver a software model of the Z01 Supertorquer that Mitsubishi Electric can use internally to simulate mission performance and integration scenarios. The simulator will allow MELCO teams to better understand which satellite missions are best suited for Zenno’s fuel-free superconducting magnetic technology.

With two Supertorquers already in space, we are gearing up for the world’s most powerful magnetorquer to launch later this year. We are looking for an electrical engineer to join our team in Auckland to help us get there and beyond.

Zenno awarded German federal contract for next-generation satellite autonomy. Zenno Astronautics has been awarded a contract by Germany’s Federal Agency for Breaktrhough Innovation SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen to develop a new generation of autonomous satellite operation software, enabled by the Supertorquer, Zenno’s breakthrough superconducting magnetic technology. The project, titled Autonomous Fuel-Free Agility in Space, focuses on creating artificial-intelligence-assisted control algorithms and simulation environments that enable precise close-proximity satellite operations without chemical propulsion. SPRIND Team Members Stella Meiré and Julius Keil state out: “At SPRIND, we are seeking breakthrough innovations that will place Europe at the forefront of space exploration.”

We are go for launch! Our Vincent Freeman mission hosted by @GoToImpulse will fly on SpaceX Transporter-15 in the coming days. Our aim is to show technology readiness level 9, full commercial maturity, in orbit for Supertorquer, the world first superconducting product for space. Keep an eye on the countdown and follow our notes as we near launch.

Zenno Astronautics partners with Portal Space Systems for 2026 Demo of Record-Breaking Magnet in Space. With our flagship product—the Supertorquer—onboard, Portal Space Systems will launch the Starburst-1 mission, a highly manoeuvrable spacecraft, in late 2026. Starburst-1 mission will spend a year in sun-synchronous orbit and will demonstrate rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO), rapid retasking, and rapid orbital change for national security and commercial use cases. “As a Kiwi founder, I am proud that this New Zealand-designed and built product will be featured on the world stage at the cutting edge of technology. This milestone will also be instrumental in proving New Zealand’s sovereign capability in space,” said Sebastian Wieczorek, our co-founder and chief product officer. Portal Space Systems chief executive Jeff Thornburg says, “Zenno’s superconducting magnet technology introduces a new class of precise, fuel-free control that unlocks real mission value – especially for operations like RPO, inspection, and orbital servicing. I’m especially excited about the potential for radiation shielding. These are exactly the kinds of capabilities that Starburst is built to support. Pairing Starburst with the Zenno Supertorquer, set to be the most powerful magnetic actuator ever flown, is a natural fit. This mission gives both teams the opportunity to demonstrate a combined capability that’s directly relevant to defence and commercial operators alike.”

Today we’re announcing our collaboration with Faraday Factory Japan on the world’s first high-temperature superconducting tape optimised for space applications. "I look forward to testing new HTS tape of Faraday Factory. Mirai could materially boost Supertorquer performance by delivering faster response and stronger magnetic dipole in the same compact, efficient form factor – enabling greater manoeuvrability in space," said Sebastian Wieczorek, co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Zenno.
