@OROBORO_Z That's tough....I also in a somewhat toxic situation... but I'm trying to push forward

The struggling is part of it all. I started out at 21 working front desk in the hotel industry and would come home and practice for hours every single day. On night shifts, drawing on copy paper. On my off days, still practicing. Amidst all that, I had an emotionally abusive wife who hated my art and antagonized me every day, while still living check to check. Most don’t know that about me, but it’s what I had to endure. It’s what anyone has to endure, and you only overcome it if you really have the vision and passion for it.

It’s as if the entire art community is feigning “support” only with the likes and RTs. None of that bullshit matters, breh. Especially if you already like your own stuff and don’t need validation. But hey, at least they’re getting exactly what they put out.

The art decides. If the art doesn’t impel anyone to want to view more of it or buy it, then artist gotta change something about the art. This isn’t an opinion. It’s just a fact, and I’m the only artist here who has no problem not sugarcoating the truth. If someone goes to a convention and doesn’t sell anything or no one crowds their booth, is the algorithm deciding? Exactly.

All this talk about “big artist this, small artist that” and business is so complicated. It’s very simple to grasp: If you wanna sell lemonade at a stand, your lemonade has to be good first. Now switch the lemonade out for your art. The same rule applies. The difference between an artist getting attention and one that doesn’t is the artist is putting something special in their “lemonade”. And difference between the artist making money and the one who gets attention is the one making money has perfected their “lemonade’s recipe”. Hence, if you’re not passionate about making and testing your “lemonade”, then what are you even trying to get attention and sell it for? You’re in the wrong business.
