This feels unfair but it is in fact not. Not in my opinion. Consumer can buy a product and return it after 14 days. Why would the seller be obliged to sell with a loss? Sale (purchase) agreement, at least in my country is finalized when both the payment is done AND the product delivered/handed out. Without that its just an offer/will to make a purchase. This happens a lot. Same as with cancelled orders when product is no longer available. It sucks but what are you gonna do about it.

@TravisAbbott429 @SCHIZO_FREQ If you're talking about a true 0% interest loan though it's almost certainly on a new vehicle - I'd agree that such a loan is better than paying cash but at the same time buying a depreciating asset near the top of the curve is brain dead on both accounts.

Apparently most US dealerships make more financing now than from the cars themselves I was such a boomer I assumed they'd want CASH In reality they want your ETERNAL SLAVERY at 19% APR

@TravisAbbott429 @SCHIZO_FREQ Entirely depends. The 0% is almost certainly an intro rate. The actual rate after must be below at least 10% to consider or you must pay off within the intro period without prepayment penalties. If the loan rate is higher than 10% then it's not worth it.

@SCHIZO_FREQ Its dumb to pay cash for a new car. You instantly lose money. Its better to finance at a low interest rate and invest the "cash" so it pays you. I got 2 new cars in the last year on 0% loans. Why would I pay cash and reduce e my investment earnings? It makes zero sense.

I struggled like hell, and thankfully worked for a 403C to get my student loans discharged (covid helped me because I had years of $0 payments).

In addition someone that gets the degree and thinks they're done learning is generally worthless in just about every aspect - a degree is only the starting point for competency

This is why I said I agreed within reason - there ARE useless degrees. Personality does have some measure, but it alone cannot account for the significant quantifiable issues listed.

@hoosiermomlove @Rothmus So while there's some merit in what you're saying -people are more frivolous with their money today - many would likely trade cheaper commodities for cheaper basic living requirements like housing. Instead they get commodities because it's all they can afford/own.

@hoosiermomlove @Rothmus Wage stagnation is the cherry on top. Wages have not scaled comparatively to housing prices. This means that compared to intrinsic cost of living people are doing worse. This coming from someone that has a six fig job in a low CoL area that has a house, savings, 401k, etc.
