@Ameer_Kotecha @Telegraph Why would you not apply to the Depattment of Health for a job directly? Each department has direct recruitment including for highly specialist roles if that is what you wish to pursue. Don’t apply for a general fast track grad scheme if you want a specific role.

This letter to the @Telegraph editor encapsulates the experience of many, many people in the system. Prior experience is almost never utilised in government - you could be a qualified doctor applying to the civil service fast stream and ask to be put in Department for Health to utilise your skill set to the NHS and the country’s benefit. You will invariably have your wishes ignored and be plonked in e.g. HMRC and spend the next decade languishing there and trying to get transferred to somewhere more relevant. It’s a criminal waste of talent

@lewis_goodall Also campaigning on policy regarding leasehold and estate adoption that affects many in our area. These are local issues that our MP fights on a national level as well as also working locally, I my opinion exactly what a great local MP should do.

@lewis_goodall Working on local issues can be transformative for your community. It matters. My MP Emma Foody, who is local and very competent, is fighting for funding only available at a national level for major road projects in our area which will benefit our area. 1/2

Spot on. We’ve come to fetishise “local representatives” far too much, a symptom of our politics becoming smaller and more parochial. What we need is quality national politicians. If they have to be “parachuted” in, and they spend more time in SW1 than the constituency, so be it.

@russelt4tdavies @Heccles94 2/2 and if it can be prescribed for recreational use, surely that opens a case for it be prescribed more widely in pain management, why settle for paracetamol when ketamine is prescribed to people who want to have a good time?

@russelt4tdavies @Heccles94 So for example ketamine, which I have administered under prescription in hospital, will a student be able to get this on prescription for recreational use? And if not surely they will just continue to turn to the illegal routes as now? 1/2

A lot of people who don't understand drug policy talking nonsense today. I'm a nurse specialist in addiction, writing my masters dissertation on the effects of legalisation of drugs. Legalisation does NOT mean liberalisation. Prohibition has caused all drug related crime and it has worse treatment outcomes. The Greens are right. Legalise. Regulate. Control. Save lives.

@OAPJo It is a benefit. Think of it like a points system. Every year of NI you paid qualifies you to receive more of the benefit which is State Pension. It is a contributory benefit, there is no pot, it is nothing like a private or workplace pension.

Dear DWP, my pension is not a ‘benefit’ - I paid into it for over 40 years and had 6 years worth stolen from me to pay the banks. Please, stop referring to my paid-for pension as a ‘benefit’.. it isn’t!

@slinehan1 So many girls dance at that level from being small to being teens. I voted for Karen because her dances brought me joy and she’s Brummie! Not because I thought she never danced. I voted for lots of people throughout including Lewis. You don’t vote against people but for them.

Karen and Carlos are one of my least favourite winners of all time and for me they were the least deserving tonight. It makes me mad how Lewis was punished for his dance experience when she has more. But it is what it is, I'm happy for Carlos. 💕 #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing

@holltoleratesit I have always been that it’s about Matty in a bar in Cork. Never believed it was about Joe in a London gastropub 😂 Although she does say we have no idea so I could be wrong on that too!

@GraceSpelman But she did write about this? Not through being tired but that now her wish is to settle down and have kids, that suggests that she isn’t wanting to keep living the showgirl life. I think family life is a contradiction to showgirl life, just not the contradiction people expected

@DrCraigArm It does seem quite relevant for a Labour MP to tweet about! People voted for Bridget because of her track record in delivering in Education and it was relevant to us that she is local and has taken the time to support our constituency and members have met her and like her.

@efoody @bphillipsonMP I love the fact you think it is remotely of any relevance or importance. You've gone the way the party machinery told you. No surprise given the paucity of candidates or the political circumstances (national and local).

Delighted that Cramlington and Killingworth Labour Party voted overwhelmingly to nominate @bphillipsonMP for Deputy Leader this morning. Photo was just after I was selected to stand for the General Election - Bridget was the first Cabinet member to come and support us 🌹

@LFC_Blarko @SkySports_Keith If you just view football as business then you don’t get it. If all any player is to you is someone who is in your team as part of a transaction to get to where they want to go, you miss Keith’s point entirely. A legacy is built on more than goals and transfer profit made.

@SkySports_Keith Keith I’m not being funny but moving for a British transfer record fee to the league champions isn’t exactly a fall from grace is it, he’s at the point where he wants champions leagues and premier leagues, you aren’t it’s that simple, business is business and u should know that.

I think the most disappointing thing about Alexander Isak forcing his move to Liverpool is that he’s disrespected his very own legacy at Newcastle United. The pin up boy, every young fan’s favourite player and the man that scored the winning goal to end a 70 year trophy drought. He was a club legend and could do no wrong. But this summer, he did. He’s essentially thrown those three years away, as if he had very little or no respect for the bonds he had built and the things he himself had achieved. It’s a quite incredible fall from grace for someone who had written their name into club folklore #NUFC #LFC

@Peat01William @sdoinho It lasted until June 30 2024 and if he had have gone that’s fine, that’s what the release clause is about. Maybe Isak’s agent should have got him one. Bruno didn’t decide to stop playing in the hopes that it would lead to another club coming in for him, that’s the difference

@asim_lfc Trent played to the end of his contract though? Isak can leave on a free but he still needs to stay for 3 more years to do that. I have no problem with Isak leaving but his price hasn’t been met and NUFC still need to buy a striker. I do have a problem with him refusing to play.

‘Trent is leaving a huge powerhouse of a football club and joining another one in Real Madrid. For him to try something different in a new country after all he's done for Liverpool. I just think that should be respected’ — Alan Shearer. #LFC

@Sandance1888 @EmmaLewell PIP isn’t an out of work benefit, a lot of people on PIP are only in work because it helps to pay for the support they need to access work.
