This is the issue with talking about xG or any stat in silos. xG accumulation under Amorim was largely due to high number of shots when chasing games. Our xG/shot taken was low & given was high, indicating low quality chances created & big chances given. Carrick has fixed latter.

Anyone hating on Carrick is quite simply a clown. Manchester United haven’t participated in the Champions League since the 23/24 season We are 1 win away from securing Champions League football for next season & no team has accumulated more points than us since Carrick took over from Osama B. But he’s not had a preseason, the squad got stripped apart for Amorim’s 343 formation hence the lack of wingers, he’s had no preseason and none of these signings are his. I and many others didn’t even think we’d qualify for Europa League football under Amorim. Instead of shitting on Carrick you should be thanking him for restoring a bit of pride back at the club & being a class act.

There are obvious flaws in the way we’re playing and it’s not good for the long term at all. But obviously those that are unable to critically think and look past the result will call you a fake fan if you don’t want Carrick. 20/21 all over again. Delaying the inevitable.

It’s been 3 years since Man Utd were in the champions league. We are 6 points from qualifying and you man are worried about OOP, tactics and the way things look. We’re in the business end of the season, get your 3 points, worry about style next season.

@htomufc He’s playing to our strengths. Don’t think this will continue next season. Carrick cannot imposs his ideologies as a caretaker boss, it is really bold and smart of him to play the team to suit the players at his disposal. If he gets the job and we have a good summer. 1/2

Yep, we’re going to have to deal with this tradeoff for the last four games. We’re playing more zonal in the high press & the mid block, mostly to protect the centre and open up bigger spaces off the ball to attack (which all the attackers suit better). He’s adapting to the players qualities a touch to extract that extra 15/20%. Long-term, it’ll be more of a concern and I think the coaches will all know that regardless or not if Carrick gets the job but I think the best thing is that; we’re in UCL next season, morale is high, we’re in a position of strength, the squad seems to have a nice feel to it. The foundations have been laid. Next steps come in that out of possession approach, building the squad for UCL football and most importantly of all, identifying the best players for our needs this summer. This has to be where the focus goes, even over the coach for me. Give the coach the tools. I’m buzzing with the job Carrick’s done, to be honest. Textbook caretaker job.
