@zonacoug @joewheat27 I don't feel its entirely justified to say it was only "Republicans" who thought this. I know for a fact there were also many democrats who had the same ideology. It's not a political matter its a generational one. The old church, I feel, was a fear mongering one.

I think this is a good question. Recent conference messages show that God is far more concerned with how we treat one another than outward expressions of righteousness, because as we saw yesterday, obsession over traditional rules does not promote peace.

Lots of members think the church’s old teachings (on tattoos, Sunday shopping, working as a mom when you don’t need to, etc.) still apply, some others seem to think they don’t and maybe never have. I don’t blame either camp; the last 15 or so years have been genuinely confusing.

My wife and found each other a little later than most.
Even still, rather than having kids right away, we focused on our careers, ourselves, and our continued education.
We both had advanced degrees and decent jobs.
It is my single greatest regret in life that we delayed having children.
I tell this to me children regularly. I wish I had not followed this path.
My advice to them is to not delay marriage for anything, and then to have children as soon as you can, relying on hard work and the Lord.

@BYUFlorida @KTMartin25 No that is not the rule, that’s a fake rule that was made up to comfort those who are incapable of reaching the standard due to unfortunate circumstances and/or character flaws. That’s sad but that’s the reality.

Bear Bachmeier: There's actually a lot of things to do in Provo, but in Utah as well. Like I just went camping in Moab, Utah, that's where the arches are.
I got to go to a national park and, went mountain biking and rock climbing. I think I'm getting into my outdoors personality.
