So we are still without power and water due to Helene, and we have no real update on when it will be restored. We're better off than many, though. Our house is still standing and we weren't hurt or anything. The cats are fine, if confused. The reptiles are mostly unhappy.

Today I was laid off from @io9/@Gizmodo as part of a 23-person editorial restructuring. I leave behind work that was globally read, award-winning, deeply reported, & sometimes goofy despite the horrors. I deserved better than this and G/O Media will be poorer for letting me go.

@DailyDael Alternatively, set passive Perception equal to 10 + your Wisdom bonus. If you're proficient in Perception, you can add your proficiency bonus instead of Wisdom. That way you can keep DCs the same with a similar effect.

Surely passive Perception DCs should be higher than active searching DCs, since you aren't paying particular attention
