I have terminal cancer and fully support and campaign for AD. However good palliative care is, 17 people still die everyday in unimaginable pain because their pain relief doesn’t touch the sides. Many like myself are also allergic to opioids. End of life palliative care should absolutely be fully funded and improved. But there are far too many whose pain can’t be controlled, and they should have the right to choose not to suffer at the end. These are terminally ill people with 6 months left to live, who are already dying. The Assisted Dying Bill is for them. The current blanket ban is cruel and currently far more dangerous. We deserve the right to live what’s left of our lives, with the comfort of knowing we won’t potentially suffer an agonising death. Please read the testimonies from so many of the brave and courageous bereaved families on the @dignityindying website who are tirelessly campaigning to prevent people like myself going through the same trauma.
