What are the genuine survival odds of humanity against ants even being say, 10 or 20x bigger? I think ants the size of a foot would be grounds for abandonment of cities and major military action

Your numbers are off. Ant biomass isn’t 12 billion tons, it’s closer to about 60 million tons total. Mammals (humans + livestock + wild) are around 1 billion tons. If ants scale ×100 in size, their mass scales ×1,000,000 That gives roughly 60 trillion tons. That sounds huge, but Earth is about 6 × 10²⁴ kg So this is roughly 0.000001% of Earth’s mass.

@zy_fou @henrybadger19 Google says theres 12 billion tons of ants, i just multiplied rhat by 100. But on further research theres 1100 tons of mammals, though I still think the planet would struggle with almost doubling that instantly.
