One of the quirkiest bits of woo I occasionally confess to believing in is that humans have low-grade latent psychic powers, or at least they can impose their will - if strong enough - on their local environment In practice this usually just boils down to observing things with good predictive pattern-matching (which is less funny to tell people about), but occasionally I have moments where I'm forced to just stare at the camera: had one recently I was sitting in a traditional Korean restaurant with @0x_kitsune last week in Myeongdong, drinking highballs at a corner table miles away from everyone else, and we were talking about places we'd travelled to in Asia I mentioned that one of my favourite places there was Boracay in the Philippines: I was there in 2016 for a brief vacation with some work colleagues and college friends, and a core memory is spending an entire day drinking at a beach resort with two songs playing on repeat for nearly six hours: Justin Bieber's 'Sorry' and 'Love Yourself' Mentioned to Kits that I get violent every time I hear those songs now, and we carry on drinking Five minutes later he freezes, sticks his finger up and I notice that 'Sorry' has started playing (again, we are in a Korean restaurant that's been playing K-pop until now) Next song is 'Love Yourself' ... and the next song is 'Sorry' again I genuinely cannot express to you how much something like that happening breaks your mind while your friend immediately starts doing a tight five on how we're both trapped in Samsara together, the only two real people stuck in a simulation surrounded by tragicomedy And yet despite being able to do that, I still never manage to identify whether a chart is going up or down
