Rivian fans strategy of shitting on Tesla is incredibly misguided. Tesla is the only reason Rivian has air to breathe. This is a david vs goliath story. The goliath is fossil fuel trucks. Electric trucks are the David. When you make fun of the Cybertruck or other Tesla vehicles, you’re not actually making Rivian look better. You’re just choking the already struggling electric truck segment even more. What happens if Cybertruck fails, or if Tesla fails? Does Rivian take their place? No. If Tesla is gone, Rivian is too. Without Superchargers… without millions of Teslas creating demand for EV infrastructure… Rivian ownership gets a lot more difficult and people lose confidence in the EV space in general. A strong Tesla is what enables a strong Rivian. Rivian fans seem to love kicking themselves in the balls and then laughing hysterically. Some humility might be helpful at this critical juncture for the company, as R2 begins to ramp up.
