The Leafs are adding a defenceman that fits every need without parting ways with the few assets they have for only cap space (and a 5th). This is a huge W for them. Its now up to Raddysh to give them 85% of what he gave Tampa last year.

Giving up a 5th rnd pick to keep the AAV down on Raddysh with 8 years and avoiding a bidding war in free agency seems pretty tidy by Chayka. The hope now is he can live up to last seasons success. Who’s feeling good about the news?

Look. Marner lost in the Final but it’s hard to not look at what he accomplished in the post season as a success. Would have been the runaway Conn Smythe Trophy winner had Vegas won the Cup.

The new Leafs management must have come to the conclusion that Joseph Woll could not be depended upon when needed. He has upper echelon talent: staying healthy in all kinds of ways was always the question with Woll.

Its only fitting that when it mattered most, Games 5-7 Mitch Marner showed up for the Golden Knights like he did for the Leafs.

@CanadasLeafs It wasn’t even just speed and skill. They also played physical, finished their checks and won their share of puck battles.

The Knights/Canes was a matchup of the old school NHL vs the new school NHL. Speed and skill wins in the NHL now. Congratulations to the Hurricanes, they were consistently the best team in the playoffs, deserve to be Cup Champs.

@thegoldenmuzzy He is a winger and less than 6 foot. Thats literally it. He is still seen as a top 2 or 3 player in the draft. Positional value of a RHD or big bodied C always wins out on draft day

Part of Easton Cowan’s game is slowing things down and dictating with the puck on his stick but I’d really like to see him play with more pace overall. Long season for him, but I’ve been underwhelmed with his play in the postseason for the Marlies.
