@mateeiii not to me, the author needs to blow my mind, surpass my expectations in order for me to give a story a 10 and that's what happened with higurashi.
I never enjoy stories right from the start, I can find them interesting but that's it, it takes time for me to enjoy things.

my gripe is more related to your final score. generally, a 10 is a statement of your enjoyment. you show you enjoyed something throughout, no matter the reinterpretations and pay-offs that come after.
and no, i haven’t read the visual novels.

@AckermanGD sure, they could make sense but your enjoyment was still hindered for that time. you can’t spontaneously take away the initial experience that made you bored and say “oh wait, those chapters were fun actually!”. thus your assessment just comes out as disingenuous and absurd.
