Oggi, invece, sembra che il brutto sia stato sdoganato, giustificato e persino elevato a sistema. Ci stiamo abituando a un'estetica sgraziata, pesante, geometricamente fredda. Ma quando il brutto ferisce il simbolo supremo del genio italiano, capisci che stiamo smarrendo la nostra bussola culturale. Proprio Ferrari stava al centro della bellezza italiana. Era la sintesi più visibile di quello che l'Italia sapeva fare quando stava al meglio: prendere qualcosa di meccanico e di brutalmente funzionale, e trasformarlo in un oggetto che parlava alle emozioni prima ancora di parlare alla ragione. Una Ferrari ferma in un parcheggio comunicava qualcosa. Aveva una presenza, un carattere, una personalità che si leggeva a colpo d'occhio, senza bisogno di spiegazioni. Negli anni 80, telefilm come Miami Vice e Magnum P.I. hanno portato quella presenza dentro i salotti di tutto il mondo. Sonny Crockett sulla Testarossa bianca, Magnum sulla 308 GTS rossa. Macchine che stavano in scena come attori, e milioni di persone che una Ferrari non l'avrebbero mai potuta toccare la conoscevano già, la riconoscevano e la desideravano. Questo è il potere di un oggetto bello: attraversa qualsiasi confine senza alcun bisogno di traduzione. Poi ieri è stata presentata la nuova Ferrari Luce, il manifesto evidente di questa deriva del brutto. Un colosso elettrico a quattro porte senz’anima, un elettrodomestico su quattro ruote lungo cinque metri e venduto alla cifra astronomica di 550.000 euro. Luca Cordero di Montezemolo ha rilasciato un'intervista in cui ha detto che preferisce tacere, perché quello che pensa farebbe male alla Ferrari. Ha aggiunto che si rischia la distruzione di un mito. E poi ha detto la cosa più pesante: spera che tolgano il cavallino rampante da quella “macchina”. Come atto di rispetto verso qualcosa che merita di restare integro. Montezemolo sa quello che dice, è l'uomo che ha riportato Ferrari al vertice del mondo, ha lanciato un grido di dolore che difende la nostra storia.
